Where to begin? I have never had a problem at the Hobby Lobby off Barry Rd until Wednesday 1 24 2024. My trip to Hobby Lobby started off well enough. I had just stopped by to have something framed. The framing employee was very helpful and professional. He showed me multiple options and actually walked me to the different areas where they were located and explained my options. He quoted me a time and I returned at the end of the time frame he had given. He was running behind, no big deal, it happens. This is where the good customer service I had come to expect ended. I had decided to see about picking up a piece of fake fruit to bring for a project my coworkers were working on and asked the floor employees if they had such a thing and where it could be found. 3 employees later I was finally able to find the faux banana I was looking for. There were bunches and individual bananas in the bin. I only needed one so I grabbed one of the individual ones. I had forgotten my reading glasses so I could see the ridiculously tiny print as to the price and there was no individual price on the banana but it is what I needed so I took it along and picked up my frame thinking they could just price it at the register as had been done at other craft stores I had been to in the past. This is where the problems began and my respect for Hobby Lobby and interest in giving Hobby Lobby any future business took a nosedive. The clerk asked me if I knew the price? “I said I think it is like a couple of dollars or something.” We are not talking about a solid gold banana here, it was a piece of plastic. The clerk said she would have to call someone over. Then a very rude clerk, Christi, grabbed the banana from me and ran off on a scavenger hunt to have it priced?!? I had already bought tickets to a movie and this was going to make me late. I DID NOT HAVE TIME NOR INTEREST IN DISCUSSING THE PRICE OF THIS PIECE OF PLASTIC IN COMMITTEE! After a ridiculously long time, Christi came back with another employee and two fake bunches of bananas. EXACTLY WHAT I DID NOT WANT! Which I was quick to tell them. Then Christi and the other individual snapped back at, “We don’t sell those bananas individually, they only come in bunches! We are out of the individual ones. I was like, “but that individual banana was in the bin with the bunches!” Then there was a comment insinuating that I damaged the bunch to create an individual banana. I CHALLENGE YOU TO LOOK AT YOUR SECURITY CAMERAS AND PROVE THAT! YOU WON'T!!!!! I had had it at this point! I told them to keep it, paid for my framed picture and left late for my movie. Your company seriously needs to review Sam Walton’s book and learn the lesson, “never miss a sale and most certainly don't miss out on future ones.” Maybe you should have one of the many floor reps like Christi walking around aimlessly review the selves for” rogue inventory” and bananas if that is so important to you! Maybe also tell them to ask the customer do you have time for me to price this for you? Instead of just running off with what I was trying to purchase. But I guess having “Employees of the Year” like Christi sitting in the back trying to reassemble rogue or damaged banana merchandise into a bunch is a better use of your staff's time. My money and business is good anywhere. This incident showed me that it would be better appreciated at the Craft Store...
Read moreI got lucky 90 percent off of on Easter. Not that I need anything. But I can give gifts, lol. Plus they had other goodies on sale. ▪︎But I swear I seem to get the same girl at the check-outs. This girl has absolutely no idea how to wrap up merchandise for customers. ▪︎This time she stated they don't wrap up wooden items. Well sorry girlfriend if my wooden items have paint on them, that means they can can be scrapped, by other items in my bag, if they rub again them. ▪︎ Plus I got some metal Easter Metal signs, yes I wanted them wrapped, this she is sadly clueless. ▪︎Where is management to teach or train her........this place has lots, lots of items that need to be wrapped up for customers. So they don't get broken in the transition from store to home. Plus I asked if she had any scotch tape to help you wrap items up. To help the paper stay in place. She stated they don't have any. Where is the customer service at this location. ▪︎I like the store, but I truly, hate the check-out experience. ▪︎This cashier acts like it is a inconvenience to have to wrap anything up for a customer. I guess she as forgotten that if he store doesn't have customers yo buy goodies, then the store will close, and she will be out of a job. Maybe management will see my post, and give some training. ▪︎Shoppers beware what you may encounter at...
Read moreI stopped by Hobby Lobby today to grab some fabric and supplies for a concert costume. My experience started off really great — the woman at the fabric counter who first helped me (unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name) was so sweet. She chatted with me about concerts, shared a few of her own stories, and honestly made the whole shopping trip feel fun and welcoming.
However, when I went to check out, I accidentally misplaced the slip I needed for my fabric. No big deal, I figured I’d just go back to the counter and get a new one. When I did, I was helped by Julie, and the whole interaction was… disappointing, to say the least. She came across as very rude and annoyed that I even needed assistance. Her tone and body language made me feel like I was being a burden over something that was clearly just a small accident. At the end, she even said, “How about I walk this up to the register for you so you don’t lose it again,” in a tone that felt unnecessarily condescending.
I don’t expect over-the-top kindness, but basic courtesy goes a long way. My first interaction showed how wonderful customer service can make the experience, but the second one unfortunately left me feeling bummed out...
