I would've liked to have given a higher rating. My wife, kids and I have been coming here for a few years now. We try to support local shops instead of national chains or online stores when we can, even if it's out of the way. There ha been a couple of little issues such as slight overcharging and employee service, but today was kinda the last straw. We live 30 minutes away from the shop. On the way, we even pass by 2 different Vintage Stocks. Being somewhat far away, I called to make sure they had a new issue of a comic we've been following that had come out just a couple days ago. The guy that answered the phone put me on hold, I assumed to go double check, then came back on and said yes, they had it. So happily my kids and I drive a half hour down there. We get to the shop, where the one employee there does not greet us or acknowledge we're even in the store; he was too busy talking gas mileage with the one other customer in there. I go to where they usually are, only to see one issue of this comic series that was released last fall. No others, and certainly not the one that was just released I was told they had. After being ignored for a while, I finally just asked if they had the new issue somewhere else. The guy checks his computer and says "Looks like they're all gone." "Did you sell one today?" I say. He thinks for a bit and says "no." "I just called up here less than an hour ago and you told me you had it." I say. He says something like "Well I checked the computer and it said we had some, but they must've sold." Not even an apology. Here's my problem; the store is very small...he could practically see the shelf from his perch behind the register. And if not actually see it, he could've spent 15 seconds and walked over to just check. If someone's calling about a specific issue, chances are good they really want it and don't live close. And the comic we were looking for wasn't super popular, not like X-Men or something. Not a high demand. So he's telling me that they did get some issues in, but magically they must've sold out the first day. The shop is small, I'm sure there's only a handful of people a day in there. You'd think they'd be excited when a customer actually needs them. It may seem like a little thing, like I'm making a big deal over very little. But the whole thing, the laziness, the rudeness, the lying (intentional or not) is enough. From now on we're going to Clint's Comics downtown, or...
Read moreThey have a no return policy. So make sure it’s what you really want. My son bought a $65 comic and I was upset he spent so much on 1 book since he doesn’t have a lot of money. I’m trying to teach him the value of a dollar and to make it stretch. Lesson learned here. To the owners response: What kid notices a return policy sign and he wasn’t told of a return policy probably because he is a kid and you wanted his money. I’m not just interested in money I’m concerned how he spends his since he has so little of it only being able to work one day a week. He just spent 2 of his paychecks on a book he won’t finish reading. It was an impulsive buy. I told you I know my son and if he hasn’t finished reading the 1000+ pages books he got a year ago that he had to have he won’t finish this one. Don’t act like you know my son when you don’t. Oh and I looked up this book and found it way cheaper online at target, Walmart and Amazon wish my son would have done his homework first. He is very upset now knowing that he could have saved $20 and bought it somewhere cheaper. Like I said before lesson learned. So people please do your homework first before letting your kids being taken advantage of and ripped off at this store just to make a buck off of an innocent kid who is just learning the value of a dollar from his hard...
Read moreB-Bop comics deserves a 4.5 star review.
Really good spot for comics. If you're a gamer or into Figures, there's nothing for you here. The store is small, but well organized and makes great use of its space. It looks full without being cluttered. I was immediately impressed by the trade paperbacks being displayed so I could see all their covers. Normally, it's just spines.
Huge selection of TPB and HC, some marked down as much as $10. Solid selection of current comics. When I couldn't find a new issue on their rack, the girl/lady behind the counter helped me out and offered to order it for me. She was very helpful, and talked about titles I showed interest in and recommended other TPBs I might like.
Their back issue stock is impressive. They charge cover price, but nothing below $2. I'm a bargain shopper, so this is just a bit too steep for me to hunt and fill the holes in my collections. It still didn't stop me from grabbing a few key issues.
Again, nothing for gamers or action figure collectors. Great for comics....
