The tower closes early In The summer! We showed up at 1pm and it was already closed bc the tower does t have ac. We asked when they close and they said I. The summer it just is when the volunteers can’t handle the heat anymore. So we didn’t get to go up but will be back to try again. The outside was cool and the people inside were very kind. It does cost $6 dollars to just go up the tower but is free for young children.
Edit: we went back on a rainy cool day and it was amazing! It does have 45 stairs from the elevator but aside from that it is easy. Now if you are short this also may not be fore you. I am 5foot2 and could see over the side but much shorter and it would...
Read moreWe visited the National WWI Museum and Memorial and really enjoyed our time there. While we didn’t go up the tower, the grounds themselves are beautiful and a great place to walk around and take in the views. The kids had space to run around and burn off some energy while also soaking in the history and significance of the site. It’s a powerful place to reflect and honor the soldiers who gave their lives in WWI. We found parking easily and snapped a great photo of Union Station with downtown in the background. Definitely...
Read moreEntrance to the tower($6.00) came separate from the museum entry fee and was well worth it. I came on a mostly cloudy day and still had the best view of the city.
Tiny elevator (8person max) takes you almost all the way to the top and a narrow spiral staircase takes you the rest of the way. Elevator operator was very knowledgeable and eager to answer questions.
Reccomend highly for the view!! Next year (2026) will be the centennial for when the tower was built. Can't wait to see what they have to...
