We went here spur of the moment after looking at several other nearby restaurants and to make matters worse we arrived 5 minutes before closing. We weren't familiar with this type of food but thought we would give it a try. The restaurant was busy and there was only one waitress who was multi tasking big time. We had seen comments in earlier reviews regarding the speed of service due to this situation. Anyway, service was a little slow but she was very kind, attentive and apologetic. We tried a couple of different menu items and thought they were excellent. We never felt rushed despite the restaurant being closed by now and took a little extra time to enjoy the ambience. Overall, we enjoyed this experience very much and will return to explore some new menu items in the near future.

Southwest Trafficway is loaded with authentic Cultural food choices. Empanada Madness is amount one of the best we have had yet. With two locations it was A safe bet that it was above average so my family gave it a try. Surprisingly our youngest daughter whom is normally very picky tried something outside the box and ended up loving the fresh made corn flautas. We all tried something different and found that every style of meat was flavored to perfection. The restaurant is a little small so eating in during dinner might be hard. The staff while very friendly struggled understanding at times what we were asking for. Overall the food was amazing and we would highly recommend it.

I was convinced by the girlfriend to check this place out because it was excellent! As I was browsing the menu the Cuban sandwich stood out to me and I had to have it. This thing was excellent! Piled full of meats, pickles, tomato and sauce which all combined perfectly. It had a small salad on the side as well. Of course, with the star of the show in the name of the restaurant, I had to try an empanada. I opted to go with a breakfast version that was also delicious and filling! Make the trek down Southwest boulevard to give this place a try!

Overpriced, understaffed. I love Salvy as much as the next guy, but the service is pretty unforgivable

Food quality - 3 stars. I ordered the Arepa "La Pelúa" to go. Good meat, but the arepa was soggy with grease, and not just from the pork inside. I was fine with the simple approach and presentation (just meat and cheese) but found it to be horribly over-salted, and grossly overpriced at $5.99.

Ambience - 3+ stars. If I wasn't so perturbed by other factors, could have been more. Simple joint, good music. Seems clean.

Service - 0 stars. Said arepa took 30 MINUTES to get to me. En ningún mundo debo esperar 30 minutos para una arepa sola. He visto un hombre, con una parrilla en la calle manejar lo más dinero, más charlando, con un menú más complicado entregar su comida en muchísimo menos tiempo con una calidad mejor. No tengo palabras. Kitchen staff needs some mentorship, or replacing. Like, yesterday.

What's more, there was only one waitress. I generally would have sympathy, but not when she is texting on her phone at the register while I am standing right there waiting to be acknowledged to place my order. I counted to 100 before asking if she was available to take my order. To her credit, she did go back to check on my arepa (after 30 minutes had passed), probably seeing the frustration on my face as I waited at the bar. Came right back with it, lukewarm and everything.

In conclusion, I admire the menu, being one of a few places in town with some hard to find classic Latino plates. I really wanted to have a great experience, and was expecting to. I will be back when I have more time to try the bandeja paisa, in the name of second chances. But this first experience was truly dismal. Across the board, easy problems to address with good management. I hope they will be able to...

Amazing chicken empanadas, okay beef empanadas, and absolute garbage customer service. I swore that I would never go to the SW Blvd location again after repeated terrible customer service but I happen to be at Crown Center and wanted to grab something to eat so I stopped in and ordered a combo plate. I initially read the options wrong and ordered the three different kinds of empanadas and instead of correcting me, the guy behind the counter, just stared at me. I quickly realized the combo only came with two so I ordered the chicken and beef that came with rice and beans. He didn’t say anything, he just turned and walked away. After a few minutes he brought out two greasy empanadas in a paper bag then dumped them in a to go container added an incredibly small amount of rice and beans. I had to ask for sauce since it wasn’t offered and that seemed to be a bit of an inconvenience when I asked about heat levels. Overall, the food was OK, but his attitude was incredibly rude. So, if your establishment boldly has a tip option on the payment touchscreen, there should be decent customer service and maybe even a thank you for the order!

To add: Shortly after I finished eating in the food court I walked by and noticed two families were standing in the restaurant, looking for someone that was working there, and the guy seem to be nowhere to be found so they walked out. As a tourist destination, you would think the customer service would at least be decent and your counter would be staffed. So to the manager: your incredibly rude and unprofessional employee is losing you money. Best of luck at that location -...

I visited the Southwest Blvd location, unfortunately I did not have a good experience. Customer Service 1 star, rude attendant Food Presentation 1 star The lettuce garnishing the plates was brown and spoiled. Food taste 3 stars.

I called the place the night before and was told they were only taking pick up orders as they were closing at 7:30. So we arrived about 3pm the next day, to our surprise we were told that they were only taking pick up orders. I proceeded to explain that we were visiting KC and we had taken a taxi and to please let us dine in, he agreed with not a very nice tone, & told us we couldn’t bring our drink in and to leave it in the car. Hello ! We just told you “we took a taxi”. He proceeded to take our order rushing us the whole time. We ordered an appetizer while we decide on the main course, he stated “I need the whole order at once”! At the end we had 2 plates, 1 appetizer and 2 soft drinks for a total of $60. The rude attendant included the tip, but did not disclos in advance. Let me tell you, besides the point that I worked for many years in the food service industry, I travel to several states and have dine in many places , I never experienced this level of bad service. If you are looking for south American food, and you are Colombian or Venezuelan you will be disappointed. Prevent yourself and upsetting day.
