Never again- do not trust Siegel Jewlers. More details below:
I first dropped off my watch on November 16, 2022 to replace a cracked crystal and the movement. They took photos of the watch and sent it off to be repaired. When I received my watch back in late December, the thin layer nylon that protects the dial had begun to shred leaving a spiderweb pattern, and an eyelash was underneath the crystal. While the third party watchmaker took responsibility for the lash and fixed it, they were able to prove the dial was damaged from the jeweler storing my watch in freezing conditions for too long.
In early January, Siegel tried to state the cracks in the crystal from my original photo were the same as the ruined dial. Photographic evidence of the intake and return proved otherwise.
Eventually with the help of the watchmaker, Siegel owned up to their mistake. My watch had to be sent to Seattle to have the dial fixed at their expense. The timeframe estimated was 2 months.
March 11, 2023 I called to check up as 2 months had passed. I was told they received the estimate but had no further details, and to expected a call back by end of day March 13, 2023. No call was received.
Today, March 14, 2023 I called back and was told they never received the estimate from the jeweler in Seattle until calling them back on the 13th. I explained Friday they told me otherwise. He admitted to lying and said they forgot to response to the estimate. Now that they finally approved the estimate, it’ll take another 2 months to get my watch back.
Had I not called, I never would have heard back on my watch. I recommend avoiding Siegel Jeweler’s at all cost. Once my watch is back and in the condition I originally entrusted it to them in, I will no longer have any business with this establishment.
Hoping in 2 months I can post back that my watch is back in my possession and in expected...
Read moreThis incident happened in the 1990s and I still can’t forget it. Christmas Eve and my family and I were opening presents. I had asked my husband for a pair of emerald earring studs. He had gone to Sigel Jewelers in Grand Rapuds and bought them. They offered to wrap them and he said ok. When we were opening presents I opened the box from Siegel Jewelers. There was a small sapphire ring with pinpoint diamonds that probably cost $120 at the most. My present was transposed with a different one. Christmas Eve was on a Saturday. Monday I went to the store and talked to Mrs. Siegel. She appeared uncaring and dismissive. My husband said he had paid A LOT for the emerald earrings. I was told to look in the case and see if something similar could be found. There was nothing. I asked how this could have happened. She said mistakes happene and offered no apology. I had the emerald earring receipt with me and was refunded the amount paid for them. I gave the ring my husband didn’t buy and gave it back to Mrs. Siegel. I checked back with the store a few days later, and asked if the “missing” earrings were returned. They never were. My husband bought a camcorder with the credited money, which I’ll never forget. I didn’t want a camcorder. I wanted someone to care and have my emerald earrings. It’s been over thirty years, and I’ll never forget how I was treated and how it made me feel. Never have shopped at Siegel...
Read moreWe first came to the Siegel jewelry store in Woodland Mall in December 1980. My husband bought me my first diamond pendant necklace from the senior Mr Siegel then. And for the past 32 years, every piece of fine jewelry I've ever owned was purchased at Siegel. I have learned so much about fine jewelries from the salespeople at Siegel. We had been a loyal customer of Siegel Jewelers until we left Michigan in 2012 to retire in Texas, and even so, every time we return to Michigan, we would stop by the store to visit. Our favorite salesmen, Paul & Joe, have since retired as well but the new salespeople are just as attentive and excellent. Living in Texas, we would send our jewelries back to Siegel in Grand Rapids, Michigan for repair as we trust only Siegel to do the best job possible. I would recommend Siegel to anyone who appreciates fine jewelries, good workmanship and excellent...
