This is simply a great bar! It's unlike most any other bar in the area in design and content. What they've created is basically an indoor open concept which feels more like an outdoor venue for to its layout.
Remnants of shipping containers are used for the walls of some of the tables, prep, and service areas, as well as the overhanging "escape pod" which is basically a small contained seating area with a balcony. Great design, and anyone should be able to find a place for comfortable conversation, large groups, or just a nice seat at the bar.
Service is by a single bar for drinks and a single food window which reminds me of an indoor food truck. This is a beer bar. The beers at the time of review were all brewed in house. There's a focus on IPAs and sours. The food is a mix of grill and fried items with some healthier options also.
Drinks and food were great. You will get a proper glass depending on your beer here. Food is prepared with care and generously seasoned. For the price, atmosphere, and level of service, both the drinks and food were excellent. My only critique is that my steak wasn't served with a steak knife which was sorely needed. Barely something to complain about when everything else is so on-point.
I'd recommend this place for any casual gathering, be it with friends, coworkers, or family. Great atmosphere, extremely friendly service, good pricing and options. ...
Read moreI recently visited Broad Leaf Brewery & Spirits in Kentwood for lunch and a beer with a friend. When we arrived, the place was mostly empty, so we went straight to the bar to order.
The food was just okay—nothing special that would make me want to come back for it. The same goes for the beer: decent but not memorable enough to warrant a return visit.
What really stood out, unfortunately, was the poor service. When we wanted a second round of beers, we had to wait in a long line—about 20 minutes—just to order. When I finally got to the front, I was told to move to the other line because the bartender needed to serve food elsewhere. This meant starting the wait all over again.
The experience was frustrating and took away from what should have been a relaxing time catching up with a friend. Standing in line for such a long time just to get a beer is unacceptable, especially when the place wasn’t even busy.
Overall, there was nothing impressive about Broad Leaf Brewery—neither the food nor the beer stood out, and the service was inconvenient and poorly managed. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for...
Read moreWe were super excited to check this place out as our buddies band was headlining there playing some great music last Saturday evening and we also LOVE pickleball so I reserved a PB court for two hours. We showed up early to play but were unable to get any food or drinks because they have no servers a long line and not enough bartender to service the one service/checkout station at the corner of the bar. It was absolutely ridiculous. Everyone was standing around frustrated and complaining to one another about how poor of a set up it was and how much money they were losing. Our group of four actually left, went to BJ’s and spent over $300 on food and drinks and then came back to listen to our friend’s band… Because of this we we’re only able to catch the last two songs. After not getting served before playing pickle ball… Then playing for two hours, we were starving and thirsty and just couldn’t stand to wait any longer so we left. SO disappointing. Seemed to be a very poorly run establishment… They literally were losing money handover fist. I doubt we’ll ever come back after that experience…So please...
