My wife and I went here most recently on July 18th and 19th, 2025 during a 4-night annual trip to Key West. Before that, we've probably been here 30 or 40 other times during previous annual visits because this ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL BACKSTREET DIVE BAR always seems to have the best live music acts anywhere on the island (even better than Sloppy Joe's and the Hog's Breath Saloon). This time was no exception. It was a small Blues Rock trio from Orlando, and the lead singer/guitarist was super talented. Since this is essentially a live music bar, we never deliberately go here to eat. It's also not really enjoyable to even attempt to eat a meal here when the live music volume goes way up and the crowd starts getting into a foot stomping or dancing mood. If you get the munchies while you are here, they do have free popcorn to tide you over, but I'd also recommend you eat a full dinner somewhere else BEFORE you arrive. As far as arrival times, I'd recommend about 8:30 pm most evening because the featured band usually starts its first set at about 9:00 pm and you might still be able to find an open table or seat at the bar. After the live music starts, this place will usually get packed (standing room only) and the crowd often spills outside onto the sidewalk along Whitehead Street. The bands usually play 2 to 3 hour-long sets each night, but I'd check the Parrot's website to find out who is playing and what time their first set is schedule to kick off, as it might be as early as 7:00 pm. Sometimes, they even have bands that will play afternoon sets, but those are pretty rare, and during those hours, the bar is often almost empty except for the local drunks (professional boozers). The drinks here are also very reasonably priced and run about half of what you'd pay along Duval Street just...

A fun place to visit in Key West. Friendly staff. This has to be one of my favorite places to visit in Key West, and I don't drink alcohol! Every evening there is different entertainment. The week I was there they had a night of Bingo to raise money for service care workers on the island that need assistance due to medical or other reasons. There was a ukulele night where the entertainment was people playing ukuleles. They had a tribute band one night. I go for the entertainment and the atmosphere. Where else on the island can you go to a popular bar and play bingo??

There are stools on the outside of the bar where you can sit and look through the open windows. There is a small shelf to place your drinks/food. Popcorn is free. Salty, of course, but delicious.

Next door is a gift shop where you can buy all things "Green Parrot Bar." I rarely buy t-shirts, but I bought two!

The atmosphere of this bar is amazing. It has a feel that we are all friends, although in truth, we are almost all visitors to the island. There were people there of all ages (21 and up) but mostly older folks at the time (just before Christmas).

My favorite things to do on the island is go to the beach during the day, eat at one of the many wonderful restaurants in the evening, and then to go the Green Parrot Bar to enjoy the entertainment. It's a wonderful way to spend a relaxing week.

Sorry to the people in front of me for getting you...

We'd been here before years ago and had a great time! Today was a little different of an experience.

We found two seats at the bar right away. We sat and waited about 10 minutes before the bartender came over to us. That was also after she went to 3 other parties that sat after us. She apologized and said she didn’t realize who was seated first because she was cleaning the bathrooms! There was a second bartender that seemed too busy talking. The bartender that did take our order was short, rude and completely inattentive. We basically got the pretentious bartender vibe to the point we questioned why we were even there. We only stayed for one drink, but during that time we even had a conversation with the folks next to us about how bad the service was. I guess that is the one nice experience here, was we met some nice people. To top off our visit, the only time we were able to get our bartenders attention was for our check because she clearly wanted us to vacate our seats for a couple locals (who seemed very nice btw). We'll skip the nostalgic visit to this establishment the next time we visit Key West and we'll go to the thousand other bars that seem to want...

Mere steps away from legendary Cuban burger joint Fritas, Green Parrot is an up and coming music venue that showcases all manner of The Keys’ ever intriguing music scene. Leading the charge is Joe Russo’s own worst nightmare Happy Dog, the premier Grateful Dead revival campaign that pays tribute to their lineage thru an ever inquisitive exploration into what’s possible, packaging it into a production pleasing to ears familiar or fresh. Green Parrot deserves all praise for playing host to these beach blazing innovators. The atmosphere, staff and service will make any diehard live music fan feel right at home. Come hear Uncle John’s Band!! Don’t miss it.
