Well gosh : as I write this , August 2017 , the Urban is a very large hole in the ground with skeleton of the northwest building starting to rise from the ashes and rubble of the former Park Place . I watched them demolish the previous last year or so which was mildly interesting . Likewise , they have slowly but surely moved into construction mode since . Rather hard for me to predict but I don't see this opening until spring 2018, absolute earliest. Thankfully, the QFC behind the place has survived , that being hands down one of the cutest and most friendly grocery stores I've ever been to ...an absolute gem that better not go away this fully opens . I hope they have presold some of the retail space , and that it is a gold mine for my town . I live about a mile due north . Watching some of the other shops come in last few years, toward downtown, I'm a bit skeptical tpwhat we need is more retail either in Kirkland or anywhere else for that matter , but investors can do that calculus for themselves . I'm going to assume that whatever condos are going in are probably high end as well , given what is going on around here in the Puget Sound area in terms of higher end real estate. I own one of the homes a mile north... simply are no longer available for less than a million bucks . Also very few and far between so people do have to move somewhere as thankfully demand is stronger than ever at this writing. The new American dream, folks, living in a high-end condo... the house yard place to run around for the kids, well, kiss all that goodbye unless you are truly wealthy . I have seen pretty clearly for about a decade that is how many of us will retire as well in these dense urban centers . When completed , I will wait maybe a year and then change my views and review score based...
Read moreThe area that used to be Kirkland urban was amazing. There was this one place that became two different bagel shops and both were amazing, there was a little movie theater that played all the new movies, there was little shops that the locals owned, it was homely if I can describe it in one word. Now this Kirkland urban comes in and it tears it all down. Of course I was saddened for Tad but when I realized that this new man is going to help us all with shopping, entertainment, and much more I got excited that I can just walk down there or catch a bus right to the place! This has four stars now but soon it'll be 5 when...
Read moreNice new complex with a variety of restaurants and businesses. Chain line Brewery is very good and nice space inside and out. Vinason is good, fast service food and pour your own beer taps. Soi is also very good. I have also been to Evergreens and Shake Shack. Skip Starbucks and get your coffee at Lladro. QFC is big and has Tutta Bella inside, which is a decent option for food and there is actually a bar inside the store too, which is beer and wine. There is a very good selection and great happy hour prices! There are other shops and a gallery too, but I don't have much...
