I LOVED Lifetime initially because of the location, amenities and Business Model. However, over time, the Brand that I was once sold on has been depreciating. I continue my membership here out of sheer convenience of location (Minutes away from Home and Work).
Overall - The Lifetime Facility has great amenities but their accountability lacks. They will sell you an upscale level of service but once you sign, you're in for a different experience.
I recently was a victim of theft - reported it and the outcome was going through a claims process; which ended up being denied because the Assumption of Risk Clause in the Member Contract. An employee was in my locker when I returned from the Sauna. His reasoning was "Another member thought it was their locker". Yet there was no other member present when I approached my locker to find him crouched down re-positing my belongings.
Lifetime recommended I file a police report and press charges against their employee (He is a young kid). While I was upset that money was stolen, ruining this kids life over an impulsive/immature poor decision doesn't seem justified.I can take a loss, but the Principle of the matter is - Lifetime knows they can fallback on their clause to avoid liability...while throwing their employees under the bus.. Pathetic.
As a "Founding Member" of Lifetime, I have experienced the total opposite from their advertised brand. Below are a few issues that I've encountered and Brian G. should be able to attest to my Patience and Perseverance throughout these ordeals. While some of these issues below have been resolved, I want to make sure FUTURE Members get a glimpse of what I went through. Below are snap shots of the ordeals:
Sales Representative - Not responding to my emails when I would inquire about classes. However, before I signed up, he would email and call me everyday. I informed Brian by sending him the email chain; he immediately apologized for the service I received and assigned another member adviser to assist me.
Being lied to, about the Kids Policy and accessibility to the facility - Before signing up - I told the agent I had a child under 12 who works out with me. He said she would have access to the gym NOT just the Kids academy. I was then embarrassed and spoken to very condescending when reps approached my daughter and I working out.
Being promised a Lifetime Gym Bag for signing up as a Founding Member - Promised this and I still never received a Gym Bag
Manager David who abrasively pushed my arm in an attempt to display an Alpha Presence. He then denied ever touching me and said I was Making the story up and playing victim - Defamation of Character! He then threatened to cancel my membership because "he could". I reported this internally and Lifetime Reviewed the Surveillance footage on 8/29 which clearly showed him push me. He no longer works there and I received an Apology from Lifetime.
Representative made very questionable/offensive statements when I was filing the complaint with her regarding this incident with David. "Unfortunately we live in an imperfect world" - "We are just not use to your guy's ensemble.." (I had a guest with me who is of mixed Ethnicity).. I have all the conversations recording and sent a portion to Lifetime's Corp. They reviewed and I received an apology from Lifetime. I still have the recordings if needed.
I have never voiced my experience publicly because the majority of the issues were resolved, however, my claim being denied was UNETHICAL and SIMPLY WRONG! Over $ LIEFTIME (i know its spelled incorrectly), is now going to lose a...
Read moreWanted to share my experience with anyone who might be joining this club. The classes and instructors I had were great, the membership services...not so much. After attending this gym for 4+ days a week for about 1 1/2 years, I decided to try a different club. When I called to cancel my membership and give the required 30 day notice, they suggested I just place it on hold and think about it. The charge is $25/month to be on hold. It seemed reasonable to me since I didn't know if I would like the new place. After giving myself 3 months to see if the new workout was what I wanted I contacted the members services to cancel my hold. Peggy let me know that I needed to come in personally. Why I asked, she said it had to be in person. First of all, catch up LIFETIME FITNESS, you can even purchase a house via email. This is only a gym membership, I should not be required to have a wet signature. What a horrible waste of time for anyone not going to that gym anymore. Secondly, she never even offered me to mail it in until I asked. Then Peggy told me that once it was received it would be 30 days from the postmark date. My goodness Peggy, do you really need my $25 that badly? No courtesy at all, they act like they don't care about you the moment you want to cancel. Next Peggy lets me know that it will prorated if needed.... Why would you need a 30 day notice in writing to cancel a HOLD? The person who put it on hold for me said that the $25 would accumulate as LT Bucks so I ask Peggy what will happen to the $80+ I have in LT Bucks. She says I can only use them in the gym until the expiration. Ok, can you apply it to your silly proration? NO. Thanks Peggy, you are a pleasure to work with. She then feels she needs to remind me this is a contract as if I am ignorant and don't understand the seriousness of this. THIS IS NOT LIFE OR DEATH, It is only a gym membership. Lifetime seems like the old Blockbuster used to be, squeeze everyone for everything. Not that Peggy or anyone at Lifetime cares but I would have come back in the summer time because I enjoyed their pool, but why would I do that? I have friends that go there still and other that have left already. I'm going to ask them each if they had the same extreme requirements to cancel. I hope Lifetime has not made ANY exceptions or I will be back to discuss further. It is not about $80 as you can imagine, it is about principle, quality customer service...
Read moreI used to go to Life Time San Clemente and loved it. However I recently moved to Laguna Niguel so thought Iâd try the one here and keep my membership as it was close by. I signed up for 4 personal training sessions and paid up front. On my way downstairs I thought I would pop in and book a facial appt. I went to the locker room to grab my phone to get my schedule. As I approached the spa front desk I noticed a really strong chemical smell and immediately my eyes started burning. I saw the spa attendant had been using a cleaner right before I approached. I told her my eyes were burning and that I was having a reaction to the cleaner and she grabbed me water and tissues to splash my eyes with. After gaining my composure I went home only to get terrible body aches throughout the night and felt very ill the next day. Sick enough to have to call out of work. I had to cancel the facial and personal training session I had that day due to the reaction. After 48 hours I went back in and asked to see the cleaner so I could take to my doctor to see why I had such a bad reaction. The cleaner clearly states: DANGER! Do not get near eyes or skin etc. Come to find out from the GM Barry Stevens, the spa attendant was cleaning the white board with it and the gym uses this cleaner a couple times a day to clean the equipment. They had the video of what happened and he said I came in contact with the cleaner at about 30 seconds after being sprayed. I was kind of gaslit about my experience and so I asked to cancel my membership. The GM said we usually require a 30 day notice to cancel but in your case we will do you a favor and cancel the next day. Wow! I obviously know thatâs there policy but he had to make it a point he was doing me a favor. They owed me $600 for the personal trainings I never got to take and have only credited me back $450 thus far! I just left Another message to receive my remaining $150 with the GM. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM! They use 3M Sharp Shooter heavy duty mark remover to clean their gym equipment ! If you see them cleaning with this do not come in...
