I've been shopping at this Michaels for a little over a decade. I've lived in Lakewood for more than 20 years of my adult life. I always loved this store. But my finances have changed the last few years, and I wasn't able to shop there as much as I used to. I used to be there at least once a week, but the last 3 years or so, I went just a handful of times a year. I started shopping there more often within the last 6 months, and I can not believe how much it has changed! The employees will ignore and avoid you. They have no idea where anything is when you can finally get someone's attention. The guy who works there in the evening is really annoying, fake nice. I've always shopped later in the evening, due to my work schedule, and I'm usually there until they close. This guy will pester you until you're out the door, but he'll do it in a way that makes it seem like he's being polite. Passive aggressive is the term. The carts are in dire need of replacing, they make the worst squeak/squealing sound as you're pushing them along. One day I tried 5 different carts, and they all did this! It's very disturbing when you're trying to shop to hear carts all over the store making this noise. Maybe get some wd40 if new carts are not a possibility? Buying craft Supplies is supposed to be a peaceful experience, not an irritating one. I kind of wonder if this is some kind of training they have received to get customers to keep their visit short.
I have also had a negative experience ordering through the app for pickup. I ordered several things, and most of them were out of stock. Why do you allow me to order if you don't have it?! I decided I just wouldn't pick up the order and it would be cancelled, obviously, right? WRONG! A few days later, a whole day after it said it would be put back, I get a message thanking me for picking up! I received that message on another order too, a couple weeks later. I hadn't had time to pick it up but I had just ordered the day before.
One upside to ordering through the app i found, is that if you want to locate an item that's not at your local store, you can find it without driving all over the place with uncertain results. I wanted something that was only in stock on s Colorado Blvd but I didn't want to drive all the way only to find out when I get there that it wasn't really available, so I ordered it online and waited until it said it had been picked...
Read moreCame in on a Saturday at noon, it just looks like a huge mess. Michaelâs⌠please stop filling your store with premade decorations. The front of the store has a huge clearance sign trying to get rid of all the pastel Christmas decor. You have to walk more than halfway through the store to get to any craft supplies. Everyone was just on the floor stocking for valentines and spring. Completely in the way of most of the aisles. Pay your workers to reset after hours, PLEASE. This has gotten worse and worse until now. I was only doing curbside orders but they take forever because every store is so incredibly understaffed. Crochet and knitting are huge now but the yarn selection is horrible and in the very back with little lighting, I had to keep walking up the aisle to get a sense of the actual color. They also have new fabric but didnât see anywhere to get it cut and absolutely no findings. Just so disappointed in craft stores now. Itâs a bunch of crap on crap on crap. I worked at Michaelâs before. The manager was so busy he kept leaving during the interview. They pay nothing and let you suffer. The only reason I went in today was for the house brand yarn I already had a project going with and was bought by someone else. I went in to look at the color in person and was surprised it was 10x worse than before. This location is next to a Ross and so close to wayyyy too many other places that have mass produced decor. Please stick to crafts and start selling the projects and materials that are viral. Itâs absolutely crazy to live in a major city and still order materials online elsewhere. Is this a craft supply store or decor and toys? Thatâs literally all thatâs here anymore. And the employees werenât super nice, youâre also lucky to get a cashier if you have anything else to do other than pay like return or ask a simple question otherwise youâre stuck on a self checkout. Sad. People spend hundreds of dollars here and itâs obvious youâre stripping people of their money while doing everything you can to keep it. Pay your workers more, hire more workers. Self checkouts should have made things cheaper, itâs...
Read moreCustomer service is absolutely terrible at this location. I donât know how theyâre still in business based on other bad reviews Iâve read from here. I donât think they doing interviews anymore they just hire whoever. No one ever wants to work here they always push people to pay with their card so they can do self checkout only. I came here yesterday and the associate Heather was rude. Sheâs just standing there and is yelling at an elderly lady to use self check out when she didnât want to. So her response was âI GUESS Iâll check you out at my registerâ she sees me standing in line and then tells me to use self checkout when I had to only make a return. Once itâs my turn, she scans my receipt and starts scanning the items. Some items were scanning wrong on the receipt so she tells me âNot on receipt canât return this item and very aggressively tosses the item back at meâ I told her that the lady who previously checked me out had to manually type in everything because he scanning gun wasnât working that day. So she starts doing that and SURPRISE everything was able to be returned. She then starts tossing all the items next to her. Iâm sure she damaged some fragile items that I returned with how rude and aggressive she was throwing the items into the return box. Oh well thatâs not my problem anymore itâs Michaelâs but theyâre forsure going to be losing business hiring people who donât know basic customer service or simply people who donât know how to work a...
