⭐️ 1 Star – Terrible Experience, Avoid at All Costs
Back in Dec 2024 I brought my Samsung Galaxy Flip5 to The Fix at the Lakewood Mall to repair a spreading dead pixel on the inner screen. The total cost was $551.24, and I deeply regret ever trusting this shop with my phone.
Before the repair, my phone worked perfectly—I had strong cell signal everywhere I went, hardly any dropped calls, and fast internet speeds. After The Fix replaced the inner screen, my phone became nearly unusable. Calls began dropping constantly, internet searches would either take forever or not load at all, and I had little to no signal, even at home where I previously had full bars.
I did some research and learned that with Samsung Flip phones, replacing the inner screen is tricky and requires carefully reconnecting an antenna under the screen that controls cellular reception. I suspected that the employee at The Fix failed to reconnect it.
When I brought the issue back to his attention, the same employee who worked on my phone refused to take any accountability. He made one successful phone call on my phone and claimed that proved there was no issues, insisting he “does good repair work.” He told me to come back again if the issues persisted, but why would I trust the person who broke my phone to fix it correctly the second time—especially when he refused to recheck his own work the first time I asked?
I ended up taking my phone to uBreakiFix in Downey. They confirmed the phone had been incorrectly repaired, and although they offered to fix it for the same price I had already paid, I chose to cut my losses and just buy a new phone.
With the same SIM card, same cell phone service provider, and using my new phone in the exact same locations as before, my new phone has zero issues—no dropped calls, fast internet, and full bars all the time. To me, this confirms that the problem was 100% caused by the repair from The Fix.
I had my Flip5 repaired at the location that’s close to the T-Mobile inside the mall, but I would avoid both of the locations of The Fix inside the Lakewood Mall. They are unhelpful, dismissive, and clearly not trained to handle complex repairs—especially for newer devices like the Samsung Galaxy Flip5. I wasted over $550 and was left with a broken phone. I had a terrible experience. I got my screen fixed here, and my phone stopped charging 2 weeks after. I brought it in and they said they would fix it. They put in a new battery, but after they were done there was a dark spot on the screen. They took off the screen to clean it because when they put in the new batter, they were careless and let everything move around on the inside. Then, after the finally fixed the screen, the home button stopped working. After waiting ANOTHER 30 minutes, and after they broke my phone even more and told me to come back another day because they wanted to go home, they finally fixed it. I thought everything was fine until 5 minutes later when I got to my car. When I plugged it in, it didn't charge. So I was right back where I started, except now I lost $50 for the new battery. Fast forward to the next day, I brought in my phone at around 12 and they said everything would be working when I returned. I got back at around 2:30, and it wasn't fixed. I asked for a refund and put my receipt on the counter. The person working there said yes. He got out his Android and told me he was calling his boss. He ended up calling mall security, and said I was being violent. The mall security officer had common sense, so he arrived he immediately took my side. He pulled me to the side and told me to get my receipt and go to the mall offices to speak with the GM. He asked the person working there to see my receipt, so I could get a refund. However, the receipt was no where to be found. The person working there had thrown it away when the officer was talking to me and expected to get away with it. I spoke with the GM of the mall, and she told me this isn't the first complaint they've gotten. Big surprise. I'm still working on being refunded, I've had an awful experience there, the customer service is the worst, and they don't do a good job replacing your screen, and worst of all, my phone is completely broken now, solely due to the fact that they cannot fix a screen, much less...

I got scamed
I came in on Tuesday, April 23rd, around 4 pm. to get the screen on my Samsung Galaxy S20 fixed. I came in with my screen displaying only white on the screen.
The guy at the counter "fixed" my phone and charged me around $242 and some change. He said he replaced my screen, and it was a bit pricier because it was an official Samsung screen.
Hours later, my phone screen started acting up. The left side of the screen started displaying on the right side of the screen, and the colors on the screen inverted.
I also noticed the placement of the screen was a little off because the front facing camera was not hiding on the upper black status tab.
Another issue I noticed is that when the phone is charging on the sleep screen. In a dark room, when the phone is charging on the sleep screen and the screen is off, a lot of white pixels can be seen in the upper section of the screen.
I went in on Friday the 26th, around 5:40pm to question the man who helped me. He took another look, and he said there was nothing wrong. He kept claiming that my phone was lacking a software update. I checked multiple times and contacted Samsung, and my phone was not missing an update.
The man did offer to replace my screen again, but I have to wait until April 30th until he gets a new shipment.
It's April 28th as of this review, and this phone screen is getting worse. It's now flashing randomly. It felt like he just put it on someone else's discarded screen on my phone, hoping to get away with it.
I decided to just get a new phone since the value of my phone at this rate is probably lower than what I paid to get it fixed by now. At this point, the fix done was just a temporary fix until I got my new phone.
Also, fyi, din't trust all the 5-star reviews on here. The store offers a "free gift" for a five-star review. I was given a screen protector that made it almost impossible to detect my touch inputs.
If you need to get your phone fixed, it's best you go through...
