The museum is the artist’s home converted to display his work. I took the walking tour and it was worth every penny. The super-friendly and approachable guide has done a ton of research and provides a wealth of information and photos. He’s happy to answer any questions along the tour. We got to go inside of the family’s former tobacco shop, where we were greeted with warm sweet smell of tobacco and cabinets and drawers made of dark wood. It was like going back in time. The combination of photos, stories, and landmarks pointed out on the tour helped to develop the artist into more than just a person from history. At the end of the tour you can purchase prints, postcards, totes, tshirts and books, including one written by the tour guide. Would absolutely recommend this. To see the museum only you don’t need to purchase a ticket, but to take the...

Excellent little museum. They have restored part of the courtyard and original gardens, planted as they were during Demuth's time. This gives visitors a glimpse into the artist's inspiration and lifestyle. Much of his work is on display, including an armchair in needlepoint which was a lovely surprise. The home includes original pieces of his studio, notions, and homewares of the time. As a parent with a toddler in tow, I appreciated the little children's cubbies throughout the home (pictured). My child also enjoyed the gardens. It is very special (and rare) to be able to visit artistic spaces where the caretakers have also thought of being welcoming...

If you are ever in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania, and art is your forte. You should come to the Demuth Museum. 3 generations of the Demuth family lived here, including Charles Demuth. He was a very renowned artist taking local beauty in. His still life around his home and his vacations in Europe will leave you speechless. If you have questions, there will be someone at the desk. She has a lot of knowledge about Charles and his life. Also, there is a small 5-10 minutes movie to watch if you want...
