The people that work at this library are wonderful human beings. Jenny, Trent, Mimi and all the other faces that I see behind the desk are so welcoming and friendly. Any time I have spoken with them in person or over the phone they are so kind and patient. They never make you feel like a bother and they are so willing to help with any questions or concerns. You can tell they truly love their job and love being around people. Really a wonderful group of people running this library. The manger as well, Robbie, she is so sweet. She was so caring and treated my daughter so special when she saw her upset. She really went out of her way to make my daughter feel better. Jenny is such a bright positive person you can't be in a bad mood when you're around her. She always has a smile on her face when she greets us. My daughter is always so happy when Jenny is there. Trent also always greets us and is so friendly and funny. He's just a cool dude. Mimi as well. She's so nice and always goes out of her way to help me with the 3D printers. They really make the library a fun and welcoming place for me and my family. Thanks...
Read moreI came in today to settle a fine and renew my library card. From the moment I walked in the woman at the adult help desk, in the center of the library, was watching my every move even though there was a large group of people near the entrance. The only difference between me and the others was the color of my skin. I planned on perusing the new book section but I felt so uncomfortable being watched like a hawk so I decided to try to pay my fine, renew my card and leave quickly.
Since there were no workers at the front entrance I asked the woman at the adult help desk if she could help me renew my library card. She snatched it out of my hand, rolled her eyes and said, "Only if you don't have fines." Once she found out I have fines she told me I'd need to go to customer service.
I left the library feeling less than human. People of color know when they're being profiled or treated a certain way because of the color of their skin. I come to this library a lot but left feeing embarrassed...
Read moreThis is a really nice library! It's a combination of natural lighting and man-made lighting, it appears to be a very bright place. I walked in to get a library card for the first time and the library assistant was very energetic and very informative. Although, I knew that she had rehearsed her speech, she said it with energy and clarity and a smile in her face and tone. On a personal note, I fear that libraries will change due to the nature of the way that we receive information now. Even as I logged into one of their computers for the first time, they were offering free audio reading apps that could actually read audiobook versions that you could check out without even having to look through the library physically. For the sake of our future generations, I do hope that libraries continue to exist as they provide so much more than just the documented information of all...
