HONEST REVIEW! Oh Legacy Trading Cards... I thought for a long time about my review for this shop because, as a local guide... I try my hardest to get a detailed impression of a place before I leave a review. I think that after visiting a handful of times, I am ready.
How should I say this... Legacy Trading Cards .. is like a box of chocolates.. you never know what you are gonna find inside. Some visits are great, some visits.. not so much. I cannot emphasize this next statement enough.. It all depends who you talk to. I thought about using names.. but I don't want to single anyone out. Please read the whole review and you will understand what I mean. For those of you who don't want to.. that's ok, here is the TL,DR. Prices are ok and fair. Stock is... Maybe 4/10? Not the greatest. Atmosphere... Oh the atmosphere... Let's talk about that.
Sometimes, you walk in and employee #1 is indifferent about what you are in the shop for and stands there silently. Sometimes, he asks you what you are looking for and proceeds to show you different cards and make recommendations even while the store is busy and he is multitasking! Wow. But only sometimes.
Sometimes Employee #2 is in a good mood, looks up prices with you online and gives really good, fair deals, provides tips and is just an all around cheerful guy. Sometimes, he doesn't talk at all and wants to judge you based on how you price things? Likes to say things like "idk how you price this or how you run things or how you xyz" and just judge judge judge. Condescending tone and all. My goodness.
But let's talk more about the overall atmosphere/knowledge. Guys. Sit down and please get on the same page, I shouldn't have to sit here and point this out. But how is it that sometimes I'd ask about a card, get told it's sitting at a flat market price of $$$ and then a random employee comes out and says "oh that card is actually $15 off, the other one next to it is also $15 off. So... Is there like a secret sale going on, are you not updating the prices or??
You guys "don't take any Japanese" and I've seen you turn down several customers for their Japanese trade-ins but you sell raw and graded Japanese and for certain customers you do in fact take in their Japanese trade ins???
You don't take any Weiss Schwarz trade ins because "that card game came and went" but then the next day you are selling some Weiss Schwarz that you just got in?
You don't take CGC Graded cards because "you pretty much value them the same price as Raw" but then you actively sell CGC Graded cards for the same price as their PSA equivalent???
The list goes on and on. I get it. You are trying. I get it. A lot of people in the TCG world think they are gods gift to this earth and think they know everything about every card. But stop. It pushes people away. I tried time and time again to have some community with you guys. I went to your events, I have never once been rude. But I'm done. You lost a customer, maybe it doesn't matter to you guys. But it matters to me. I truly tried. Maybe if I see you guys at another event or around town, maybe I'll say hi and we can try again. Take my words seriously though and thank you for reading my review. I hope it helps out anyone who either works there or is thinking of visiting there.
Side note When I was still a regular visitor, I recommended and had one of my friends visit your shop. She did. You know what she told me after I asked her how it went? She said "No. Oh No." She asked for an Iono card and after she was met with judgment over her lack of knowledge of "which Iono card, because there are several" she left...
Read moreStopped in here to buy a couple things and asked if they buy cards. The guy at the desk looked me up and down and said with a condescending tone that they only buy serious cards. Okay cool. I have serious cards, I will be back. Tried not to think into it too much.
I return a couple days later with a binder full of Cards. I walk in and let a different person behind the counter know that I have some cards to sell. I am met with the same condescending attitude and am told they are only offering store credits or trades. He brushed me off with a very disinterested attitude just like the person from my first visit. He had zero interest of even seeing what I had, and just like the first person looked at me and assumed I didn't have anything of value to offer.
I took a look in their display case. The sports card selection they had looked like childs play compared to what I had to offer. If you are going to judge me without even looking at what I have you should probably carry better inventory. The better inventory I have is now going to be shown to your competitors. All you had to do was treat me with a mere hint of respect and simply look at what I...
Read moreSorry to rain on your 5 Stars, but my visit was far from what most people have experienced. Spoke with Taylor on the phone and scheduled an appointment to meet with him the following day. I arrived at the mentioned time and introduced myself to the guy behind the counter and asked, "Are you Taylor?" Immediately someone from the other side of the shop starts chuckling and blurps out, "Hahahaha, hey Taylor." The guy behind the counter responds, "No, I'm not Taylor. He isn't here today." One would think this is an opportunity for the worker to introduce himself, but never happened. From that point forward I think it became obvious this was not the shop for me. Never got to meet Taylor, but he seemed to be friendly and professional...
