This beautiful Sunday afternoon the 27th of April after church and attending Sunday School, my husband and I went to the cafe for a light brunch, as we had forgun having breakfast. To our surprise, unlike the usual excellent service we had grown accustomed to, we were met by Samantha who could not pronounce our name correctly after having been told four times. No problem, she apologize and all was well. During our half hour plus wait, Samantha found it necessary to tell a couple half our age that she needed to seat us first. Considering we arrived at the restaurant 20 plus minutes prior to this couple we just dismissed it as youthful negligence. Fast forward, we've reviewed the menu and decided on our selection and had waited at the table 10 to 15 minutes with Samantha repeatedly asking our waiter to take our orders. Two ladies and a child were seated next to our booth and immediately the waiter came over and took their orders. I inquired of that wait staff if in fact perhaps we who had been seated prior to this party could place our order. Hard as she and Samantha tried five plus minutes later we still had not been greeted by the wait staff. We being reasonable decided to take our business elsewhere. As we were departing the restaurant an African-American male with dreadlocks and a plate full of food approached us asking what was the problem. We said we were tired of waiting and we were going elsewhere. This individual became irate and very combative. He asked us to leave the restaurant and to never return. Neither my husband or I could make any sense out of what had just happened. I trust that the owners will look into this and make corrective action immediately. As active senior citizens in the community, we patronize their establishment routinely but have no intention on returning if this individual is still its employ. Very...
Read moreOverall, this restaurant offers mostly standard breakfast options and a few basic lunch picks, with underwhelming service. We came in around noon on Saturday and were met with a 45-minute wait, so instead came back on Sunday at 11 AM or so. The hostess (the same on both days) was likely overwhelmed as her demeanor was curt when we interacted with her. There was no way to be added to a waitlist virtually, and you had to stay in the restaurant's front of house to hear your name called (no text/call when the table was ready). We were seated ~ ten minutes later than anticipated, and the wait staff seemed to be in very "fend for yourself" mode, as nobody acknowledged us for fifteen minutes after being seated, and our waitress shared that she was unaware that we were seated in her section despite other members of the staff bustling about at neighboring tables; all in all, from entering to having our orders taken, we waited an hour, which just doesn't seem to be the standard experience from looking through other reviews. She was kind enough to rush our order with the kitchen and apologized, and the food itself was pretty good; the chicken tenders beat our usual brunch spot, Flying Biscuit Cafe. I think in future we'd just do takeout if we were to return.
*Edit for feedback: I think adopting a virtual queue system such as OpenTable would better manage customer expectations by providing more accurate wait times and giving people the freedom to get a peek at the lovely downtown area the establishment enjoys, while also equipping staff with a more uniform way to manage + seat incoming guests. I'd probably dine in the next time I visit were this an option. I appreciate you taking a beat to respond...
Read moreThe service I received today was utterly appalling. If I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered three veggie sandwiches for my family --which I have had before. The appearance was off and so was the taste of the food. It took a long time to come out and when it arrived, the bread was DRY and it did not look as presented in the menu. A server took the plates back and came back with the same plates to say that nothing was wrong with the meal. He took them back again and the manager, Trey, brought the same sandwiches BACK to the table to say that they checked it in the kitchen and it was made correctly. He proceeded to say that he is not remaking it because they did not want to waste product. He aggressively raised his voice towards me in front of other customers about why I should still eat the meal that had been taken away several times and ultimately not remade and why I had to pay for meals that I did not receive. He then loudly shouted "its fine, it's fine, I'll pay for it out of my own pocket!" Another server came to see what the commotion was and was told by Trey "I got it I got it" and waved him away. He proceeded to shout was I paying cash or card serveral times. At this point, everyone around me was staring at us as I explained to him that I should not have to pay for food that was taken back to the kitchen several times by several people and we ended up with nothing to eat. I also want to mention that my server, Kim, never came back out to check on us after we placed our order. I am disgusted and embarrassed with the treatment received and I do not recommend this restaurant due to poor...
