TERRIBLE customer service. My wife and I scheduled a 30 min couples massage as it was the only slot available within the next few days. We showed up 4 minutes after our scheduled appointment (our bad of course), after which we were given the option to change in the locker rooms and get a robe, or go straight to the massage room and get changed there. We picked the first option, wife had some issues with her locker, so by the time we were ready in the room it was 15 minutes past the scheduled time. We were rudely greeted by Margarita, a lady without any customer service skills whatsoever. They mixed up our names, so when we were heading to our tables as directed, she snapped “the pregnant woman goes here!”, after which she told us in a totally condescending tone we only had “15 minutes left because you were late and took to long to change” while we were both still dumbfounded by her first statement. My wife asked to switch because she didn’t want to deal with ornery Margarita (who would?). She’s pregnant and emotional so she ended up crying through the 15 minutes of the worst spa/massage experience either of us has ever gone through. We came out more stressed out than before, complained at the front desk and got the manager’s email (April). We emailed April and the only response was “we are sorry you didn’t have a good experience, here’s 25% off your next massage”. No thanks, we’re never coming back here not even for free. There are hundreds other places around that will treat you so much better than this, don’t bother with Brick Canvas. I’d give it zero...
Read moreI'm torn between a 3 and 4 star rating. I'm not trying to bash them, but here are some things to be aware of especially if you are pregnant. I will say the ambiance is fantastic! I love that they give you a locker and robe (not many places do) and everyone is helpful and professional. However, each massage I've gotten has been subpar for the the $90 price. And I DON'T believe that all the therapists are trained in prenatal as the spa claims. Being someone who IS specialized trained in prenatal, I noticed both times that the therapists were not avoiding points that you are taught to avoid with prenatal, also neither one wedge bolstered under my right hip when I turned on my back (this is very important to avoid lack of oxygen to the fetus and symptoms of sciatica). There were other minor things, but these were the bigs ones that stood out. Every other prenatal massage I've received also offers stomach or side lying....here that was not the case, instead the tables have a mesh cut out for the belly, so you can be face down...which was fine, I was comfortable, but it simply adds to the suspicion that they are not actually trained in prenatal...I doubt they have any pregnancy massage bolsters at all. So just something to be aware of. That all being said, the ambiance was fantastic, they use quality essential oils (Young Living), I LOVE the hot towels on the feet, face and back. Definitely worth trying once and seeing for yourself. And the FACIAL I had there with Krista was actually one of the best i've...
Read moreThis place is a whole experience, y'all. Even the walk from the parking lot to the building is a treat. There are bistro lights strung up here and there, pretty vines and trees all around and the beautiful brick building exterior hints at the semi-swanky vibe you'll be getting once you go inside. The salon is situated upstairs in a large room with tons of gorgeous natural light. There's a very calming atmosphere.
My stylist sat down with me and asked a few questions regarding my hair type/texture and what I had in mind for my cut. I'm trying to transition out of styling my hair with heat and tools to embracing my natural waves, so she talked to me about different techniques she could employ for helping those waves to take shape. I appreciated that she was very informative and really took some time to understand what she was working with before going in with the scissors.
Before heading over to the shampoo room, she gave me the option for either a hand or a shoulder/neck massage. (I chose the latter because I'm tryin'a get the most massage for my buck, ya feel me?). I got to pick an essential oil for it, too!
If they had ice water or some kind of small drink/snacks available, I think that would mesh well with every other aspect of the experience and would take it to a solid five stars for me. But, considering a hair cut starts at $30, the Brick Canvas certainly exceeded my expectations! I'll for sure be back for...
