We were attending the Lexington Toy and Comic Convention on Saturday March 25th 2022 and used the skybridges that go from the Hilton to the Hyatt that go through the Central Bank and Trust building. While near Trindy's Cafe we took some photos of our friend who was in full costume for the convention in front of the fully locked and closed Trindy's Cafe. Suddenly a very over zealous security guard arrived on the scene quite upset and told us "This is a bank and you are taking photos of the inside of a closed a restaurant. NOT COOL."
When we apologized my wife told the man "We weren't aware." and he rudely replied with an attitude "WELL NOW YOU ARE."
After we apologized we moved on to go to the convention. Now I fully respect security wanting to keep an eye on things, 100% but there were absolutely no signs stating that photography was not allowed and we were taking photos not of the inside of the restaurant, but of our friend in full costume standing in front of it. While the security guard wasn't exactly shouting at us he did seem very irritated at us and I half expected that he was going to demand to be allowed to delete our photos after I apologized. He still seemed irritated so we left after apologizing and never took more photos in that area again.
The hotels, specifically the Hilton and Hyatt and bank building clearly were allowing hotel guests to use the skybridges to access the convention center. No one was trespassing where were were not allow to be. Please, next time an event is held post clear notices that photos are not allowed in that area if that is the case. While we were there the access to the area security told us was a bank was completely closed, locked and gated off and were were not trying to gain access. We were simply taking photos in front of the fully locked and gated Trindy's Cafe. Not of the Cafe interior specifically, but of our friend who was in full costume for the convention taking place.
The security guard could have simply told us "I'm sorry but photos aren't allowed in this area. If you are passing through that's fine." But instead we were made to feel like we had nearly committed some sort of actual violation by simply taking a photo of our friend standing in front of a completely locked and inaccessible cafe.
Afterwards, when we did pass through that area for the rest of our stay we took no photos. We respected the security guards wishes but feel he could have handled it better.
I'm not trying to get the man in trouble for doing his job but it felt like we were being accused of intentionally doing something wrong rather than just taking photos of our friend.
I'm not sure if the guard worked for your bank or the building over all but it really surprised us.
Maybe next time there's an event that the Central Bank building allows the hotels and convention center to use during it you guys might want to put up "Sorry no photography in this area" signs.
I decided to leave this review because I got no response when...
Read moreThis bank is legitimately the BEST bank in Lexington. You always get a human when you call and the staff seems happy to work there, which says a lot. They have superb (SUPERB) customer support, service and all the amenities a big bank would have. Only it’s better because it’s not corporate and they actually care. Their offices are beautiful and welcoming - great for everyone. I think the morale and mood of employees often reflects the morale of the bank and the caliber of interactions they encounter from their clients experience. This place is legit. They offer QBX files (for accounting), options for no fee banking and all in one statements (checks and account statements). I’m so glad someone referred me to them (they worked in an accountants office) and hope that you enjoy them too - for real. You will Be so happy. You’re...
Read moreDO NOT PARK HERE FOR EVENTS. I had parked here 1 time before for an event. The first time I went through and got my ticket no problems. The next time I come here there is a lady in a car in the entrance. I go up to get my ticket and she hops out of the car yelling and screaming at me. She asked if I saw the sign that said $25 event parking. I told her yes and that I was driving up to get my ticket as I had done before. She then stated that I was trying to cheat the system. After exchanging some words with her I left and parked somewhere else. I’m not sure of central’s bank association with the parking but I will never...
