Let me tell you what just happened. We bought tickets for a 6:15 show this evening. Given the estimate for previews we arrived at 6:30. Anyways, I am gluten free and my husband is training for a competition... so we bring our own food. We are stopped at the ticket taker and we are DENIED every to the theatre. We are not allowed to enter and see the movie that we have paid for. We're two professional adults, we have no intention on littering or leaving garbage around yet, we were DENIED entry. We were expected/told to inhale our food before we could even enter the concession area. The ticket taker claimed that this was the policy, no outside food or drink of any sort. He accused of us offo bringing in Starbucks but it was only the bag, no Starbucks just the bag withw my husbands Tupperware inside. We asked to speak with the manager and were told "well they're going to say the same thing". The attendant at the ticket counter, who was not involved at this moment, first told the ticket taker "Don't speak to me" when the ticket taker askwd for himh to call thetmanager. But when the attendant realized that we were standing there he got up. He pointed at the concession stand and said that there wasw plenty for us to buy... "Go buy gluten free items there... like peanuts." We said but we have our food, that we eat... (Just let this all wash over you for a minute).
We asked to talk to the management again, to which the attendant called, to which the attendant had to ask the manager 2x to come downstairs. The attendant then just offered us a full ticket refund and nothing else. The manager appeared and tells us that due to an incident a few weeks earlier where someone brought in a heavily peanut-oiled dish, so peanut heavy that it caused someone else to go into anyflactic shock, now absolutely no outside food or drink is allowed. We asked, "but you still sell peanut products?" The reply "well yes but they don't smell."
We were COMPLETELY denied entry, we were ONLY offered a refund and we were REFUSED service as paying customers. Then we were asked "where did you buy your tickets?" As if this was all our fault. We said "through our AMC stubs account." We missed the movie and wasted all this time only to be completely denied service and entry.
Beware any and all who intend on seeing a movie at AMC Linden; they are refusing service. I am sure there is hope that by refusing such service it will force people to buy at their concession stand... which is definitely the goal. Remember gluten free and anyone else with sensitivies, you can "buy peanuts" because but they don't smell?
Who knows. This was a terrible terrible customer experience and we'll heavily reconsider ever going to AMC Linden...
Read moreWhy the one? The Amc theater is supposed to be a place where magic begins. That indescribable feeling you're supposed to feel when a movie theater, you enter is beyond amazing! The theater is understaffed completely. Usually one or two persons working the ticket lines. Mostly because we have ticket kiosk now.
The snack line is supposed to be the highlight of the entire experience. Unfortunately overpriced snacks and small portions have dominated what you'll get at AMC. As an A-lister I can skate through some of the corporate pricing, but for the average person, you will easily spend almost 100 dollars at the theater for two people.
The theater is located in a plaza, there's always plenty of parking. The bathrooms can be decent at times. But the reality is, they haven't remodeled. Doors hang wildly on bathroom stalls. Toilets are old and should be serviced. Amc doesn't maintenance their buildings.
I ordered the two sliders and french fry meal. Disgusting prices for bite sized snacks. A movie minimum is 1 hr 58 minutes, you can finish those snacks in seconds. But yet, they are asking almost 26 dollars for two sliders and french fries, tax included.
The dolby theater is number 12. It is usually okay. But the seats don't always work. And it is always HOT in the auditorium. Staff are supposed to come and clean but their is normally only two people that show up for cleaning. It really is sad considering people spend over 20 bucks a ticket.
Recommendation: Get an A-list membership. It is 26.99 plus tax a month. And you can see up to 4 movies, currently now it is 3 but they have updated it to 4 movies a week. This will save you money in the long run. Because generally a ticket is 20 dollars and up. With A-list you can watch a movie in any format! anytime! Very occasionally do they say, A-listers memberships don't apply to this movie. Other then that, I truly hope they will start to update these...
Read moreFirst off, there is ample free parking to the point that, even if they have multiple sold out movies, the complex would be able to accomadate everyone, and have it where you'd be in walking distance.
As for the theater, it's not perfectly clean but as good as expected. The lobby sometimes does have popcorn spilled in the ground, there is an occasional leak they cordon off and place a bucket under, and their game area does feel dated and perhaps on the way to being replaced.
In terms of bathrooms, they are generally clean, stocked with toilet paper, hand soap and they don't force you to dry your hands with a Dyson or air blower but actual paper towels.
Getting to the Theaters themselves, they are better than some of the worst I've seen in New York City, but not the best. Only the Dolby theater has recliners, and they aren't the heated variety. The Imax theater has what is standard in the Mountainside AMC, and the rest are those dated chairs for which are by no means comfortable for a two hour movie.
In terms of who comes here, it is a crowd who is decent. There are occasionally some talkers during big event movies, but generally people follow theater etiquete but, to be honest, often the theater (when I go, usually weekly) is mostly empty.
Oh, and the staff are cool. It's mostly people who seem high school aged or maybe early twenties. Mainly my interaction has been them scanning my ticket and they have always been nice and friendly.
The main reason for dropping a star is just beacuase of the chairs, but with stadium seating, it might be they can't implement something more comfortable considering the cost.
Also, thankfully, despite it being an issue years ago, there are no longer people who can make you uncomfortable waiting outside the theater or in the...
