Its a cozy area of the beach in a bit of a bay. The water is nice. Sandy bottom on the ocean floor here . Saw fish and seal 🦭 . It's got showers on the blue strip area leading to the beach and the washrooms are for everyone they are located were the fun rental area and the playground . It's a very sandy beach and it's like a fun hood beach vibe here . I would recommend watershoes or sandals don't go barefoot even in the water too , the Californian beaches are party beaches might be broken glass and garbage around ether then that it's pretty clean here and tons of families too , it's got kids playground. Parking around, close to and its infront of downtown long Beach hotels and residential area etc and nearby public transportation . The blue strip on the beach helps with wheelchair accessible needs to get to the water 💧 here . Lots of open sand and street vendoring and places to set up beach tent etc . There is lifeguard...
Read moreAlamitos Beach is a hidden gem. Great beach for little ones that can't swim and learning to swim. Waves are very small. People are nice. Tons of suntanners and tourists. Beach is HUGE with lots of room. Plan on a short hike from the incredibly expensive public parking lot. Plan on parking a quarter mile away if you want free parking. Surprising amount of seashells. Never been hassled for bringing the dog. Life guards / police are low key and chill. Great jetty filled with rocks plenty of people fishing. People biking/walking on itself jetty and the beach freeway/ ever lasting boardwalk (bike path with pedestrian walkway). Huge complex they built but never opened for the beach. I eyeball the beautiful unfinished bathrooms and kids play area everytime I go. Come on Long Beach finish that thing already. The permanent porta potties in the...
Read moreI like this beach for walking and for watching the Long Beach coastline. I haven't gotten into the water and don't feel this water is safe to swim in because it's near the marina with boats and factories. However, the water is nice to look at and relax. It's very calming and there's small waves. This beach has a long walking path called "Shoreline Way". It's a good pathway for running, cycling, walking, or rollerblading. There's no nearby parking structure except for the Pike or by the Aquarium. If you park at the structure then you still have to walk a little longer to get to the beach. There are a few random beach parking lots and metered parking in the street. There is free street parking on Ocean Blvd. on certain days. Overall, it's a good beach for exercise and to enjoy a...
