Horrible customer service. I sat at the bar today and the bar tender took forever to even greet me. Then when she finally came she confused my order. I initially wanted a Coors light but changed my mind because of the wide selection of beers they have I told her to pick a blonde she liked and she said strawberry. I said no, do you have grape flavor. She replied no. Then I asked her what others she had and she stated honey, I said "that's perfect I love Winnie the Pooh cuz he's always digging for honey" and she laughed and said I'll be right back with your Coors light. I said no, I want the honey blonde, she said oh okay. Then she brought over a cup of iced water and I told her no, I don't want water, I want the honey blonde, are you new here? She said yes, I just started a few months ago. I said I apologize but I can tell. I politely asked if I could give her a tip because I was a server at Yard House in downtown LA for a while and she said sure. I said okay well the way I was trained at Yard House was to ALWAYS bring the guest alcoholic beverage or whatever they ordered first and water is upon request. I was taught by my manager Darrell (he worked at this location and the LA live location back in 2012) that Yard House does NOT care about food they care about the drinks because they make so much money off of it. Then I broke it down for her. How much is a bottle of vodka she said about 15. And I asked how much do you charge for a Martini, she said about the same price, and then I asked how much do you pour? She indicated with her fingers a small amount. I said yes it's about 1.5 ounces. Get the guests drink first then when they are half way through ask them if they would care for another and it will increase sales and her tips. She thanked me. But when I asked for the check I made a joke and pulled out my EBT card and said do you take GR (general relief) she said no. I said but it's cash, it should work. She said I have to bring you your receipt first, I said can't I just try to swipe it on the machine first, she said yes but you still need your receipt. She left, I waited for more than 5 minutes. I got an emergency call from my father and had to leave. I would never dine and dash because I am a server and have been in the industry for 15. I used to work at parkers lighthouse in 2016 to 2019 and me and co-workers would go and get drinks, pizza, deviled eggs, wings, and other apps for happy hour. I can't recall her name but she was a young mixed African American girl with curly hair. It's not her fault but she needs to be retrained. I even explained to her about the way servers were programmed to drink run at yard house in LA and it's something I helped implement at Parkers lighthouse and she replied "oh the cocktail servers, yeah they make a lot of money" I said no there are not cocktail servers at yard house there are only servers and they run drinks before they run food. The food runners run food and the servers run drinks. They fill your tray up and send you around the restaurant delivering guests drinks and I love this policy because my cocktail/beer is never empty here. It's not her fault she is new but she needs to be retrained. I attached a photo of the good luck voodoo doll I got at the native American shop next door as I sat at the...
Read moreCame in with a party of 8. Due to the wait times they stated it would be better to split the group into 2 parties of 4. My parents and their 2 got their own table while we got our own. With 20 minutes our table was able to order our drinks and dinners. Same with our other table. This is where things got messy. It took about 15 minutes to get our food, but only my table... we waited a while about 10 minutes. Before my parents encouraged us to eat without them. It was a busy night the waitress seemed very hectic came by a few times and kept coming by forgetting small stuff like a light for the patio it was dark, forgetting to refill drinks, no worries it happens, its just small stuff.
Each time however she said the the other tables food will be out shortly and she apologizes for the delay.
Now its been past 1hr. My table is done eating. My parents table still has 0 food. Despite them ordering mostly bbq hamburgers. Waitress is still apologizing telling them its the kitchens fault she talked to the manager who will stop by and it'll be right out.
By this time I walked back to the hotel got the car drove it back for close parking as its late and I know my parents don't want to walk a mile after 10pm. I have now noticed several people that came in and ordered and finished but no food for my parents or their table.
My parents finally flagged the waitress down. Which happens to just have a another kitchen mix up and she let the manager know to stop by the table. Who still hasn't stopped by the first time she said it. Within this last 10 minutes all of a sudden the food is ready as well as the check...
My parents go up to pay and demand to speak to the manager. Who we find out HAS NOT been told any of this. We never found out where the issue was. The manager did give my parents some gift cards to use down in our town.
I feel like I should also mention at this point they also added a $30+ mandatory gratuity for our party as it "exceeded" 4 people despite use being broken up into 2 separate groups.
Tldr. Food was great. Service DOES NOT exsit. Manger apologized and gave...
Read moreCame to this Yard House around 8:50 PM and sat at the bar. Our bartender took our drink and appetizer order right away. Drinks came fast, appetizers came about 15 minutes later, and that was the only good part of the night.
After that our bartender completely disappeared. I could see him on the other side of the bar, clearly slammed making mixed drinks for the entire restaurant by himself. Not one other bartender stepped up to help him or check on us. We waited about 30 minutes for him to come back and nothing.
I asked another bartender if he could take our food order since our guy was buried in drink orders. He said “I’ll be right back” and never came back. He stayed on the other side of the bar and ignored us. Another 15 minutes went by and I tried flagging down a third bartender. I made eye contact with him three times and got ignored every single time. The couple sitting next to me even laughed and said “what’s wrong with these people, they’re just ignoring you.” I said “yeah because we’re not their customers and our tip doesn’t go to them.”
At this point it’s 10:10 PM, almost an hour and twenty minutes since we sat down, and all we had were drinks and appetizers. No one cared to take our food order. I was beyond annoyed at this point.
I saw a male server by the bathroom and asked if he could grab our check so we could leave. Instead of helping he argued and said “that’s not my responsibility.” I told him “then who do I have to talk to? We’ve been sitting here over an hour being ignored while trying to order and now just trying to pay.”
Finally the same bartender who ignored me earlier brought our check and acted annoyed that I interrupted him, even though our original bartender was still stuck making drinks for the whole place.
This was easily one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had. The bartenders at this location clearly ignore anyone who isn’t their customer, and management allows it to happen. Nobody deserves to sit at a bar for over an hour being...
