Other reviewers are correct, this park is best suited for large and not, small dogs, which clearly didnāt figure into the planning of this location. Unlike the area for large dogs, the one for the smaller animals is literally just a tiny rectangle box with no activities, seating, or area for shade. (There is a reason itās always empty, I donāt think that more than 3-5 dogs can reasonably be in that location at once.) The āgeneral useā one, designed for pets of all sizes, is fine, but, the area is wooded (which mean thereās lots of dirt), as opposed to the open, grassy space for running in the large dog park and as is the case with the small dog area, it has no activities and is often empty (especially after 6pm, once the sun goes down). Itās just unfortunate as Iād like for my small dog to be able to play with and enjoy companions for an hour or two; and the only ones who get the benefit of that are the larger dogs in the area designated for dogs of that size, where there are always at least a few. Itās just sad having to pass up that park, when there are several pups playing with each other, going to the āgeneral useā park hoping to see other canines, only for those hopes to be dashed each time and my dog to end up running around by himself. (Also, thereās no lighting/lamps in the area for small dogs, as there are in the large dog park, so you have to leave by a certain time anyways. Nor are there lights at the āgeneral useā park. In the Texas heat, this could mean that your hours are your limited unless you have a larger dog.) I enjoy like that this is a free park, but, itās not one thatās meant for every dog,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy pupper absolutely loves this place. We drive over from Marshall and there's been at least another dog there for her to play with. There's a large and small dog area when you first walk up.
The small dog area is basically just a dog run. It's not as good as the bigger dog area, but all of this is free, so you can't really complain. The bigger dog area is a gigantic open field and there are some agility things there.
If you walk past the two fields there is an all inclusive wooded field that you can take any sized dog to. It's shaded and more woodsy.
The only negative I can say about this place is the larger field seems to have some drainage issues, but again it's free to bring your dog here so it's not that big of a deal. It's not a bad drainage issue, just takes a day or two for it to get dry.
I'm attaching a couple of pictures of the different areas. Hopefully you will enjoy it as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThree dog parks here at Boorman Trail. One for small pups only, one for big pups only, and the theirs for dogs of all sizes. The big pup park is by far the most popular. We have a group of regulars who have become friends because they frequent the park so often. It is wide open for dogs to run and play, and the owners have really friendly dogs.
Today, though, I brought our two to the Stragent Dog Park, a more secluded and wooded park on the Boorman Trail with good fences and a water fountain for all species. š Itās a bit smaller than the big puppy park adjacent to it, but offers some new turf for your pups to find new smells and run and play with a nice share campy if oak trees above. Molly and Ginger seemed to enjoy their time here just as much as the other park. So...
