Bodacious Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Longview

I would give this resturant 5 stars for the food. It is the best!! This is the Bodacious to go to if you want the best BBQ. However, I take away 1 star because so many times I have had that craving for BBQ, only to be severely disappointed to see that they closed early. They advertise being open until 8:30, but I can't count t how many times I have arrived between 7:55 and 8:20 to see that they had closed. Last night they closed while I was in getting an order to go. I guess I took the last of the potato salad, so that signaled a time to close. That was just a few minutes after 8pm. While getting my order and getting in my car, I saw at least 5 different groups of customers turned away disappointed, like I have been many times. My advice to the resturant, if you advertise being open until 8:30, then make sure you have enough food and stay open as advertised. Nothing worse then wanting great TX BBQ, and not being able to get it. I have tried other Bodacious resturants, but they are just not the same..This one has the best of everything!

Well, 3 years later, everything is the same. Today, a Wednesday I call at 6:30. I guess they are closed and sold out. I guess they are only open to the advertised time if they are not sold out. In the last 5 days, I have called at 7:10 and 7:35 on different days, and they have been sold out. They are the best BBQ so they sell alot of BBQ. I will note, the midtown location is closed from a fire I believe, so those customers must be coming...

I’m not one to comment on anything and the only reason I have the 3 stars was because I have had some of the best bbq at this location. My daughter even worked for the owner Scott and had nothing but good things to say about him. I don’t easily get mad and I always give everyone the chance to make it right. Here is my problem Scott. I came in and ordered two pounds sliced brisket and 1 pound sliced sausage on Christmas Eve. It was our Christmas lunch. The brisket was sliced very thick and was tough as a boot. Sausage was excellent as usual. Let’s just say not many people ate the brisket and everyone agreed that is was not your best bbq. So I picked it up Thursday and your were close Christmas Day and Saturday because I tried calling all day. So I thought ok I will have to wait until Monday. When I called they transferred me to a Manager and I told him this and he said well you shouldn’t have waited so long to call us and that was four days ago and Scott will tell you the same thing. I had high hopes because someone local (I do not live in Longview but visit often for business) told me about this place. I was completely disappointed in nearly all of the food I purchased. The brisket was so dry that I could not eat it at all, the "links" appeared to be just store bought like Ekrich - not real links in my opinion and the potato salad was awful. The "flavor" was something I simply could not understand. I prefer to make my own potato salad and smoked meats but when out, and really craving BBQ, I was hoping to find something amazing and worth the money - this was not it. We have amazing BBQ places near where I live so I will just stick close to home for this. The only redeeming part of my meal was the smoked turkey - it was juicy and very flavorful - not enough to salvage the wasted meal though. ...
