I'm giving it two stars only because the food good. The Rueben was very delicious. The beer selection was small, but good. The service was absolutely awful. We did get seated right away and they did ask what we wanted to drink, kind of rushed us to decide our beers (it was our first time and we hadn't seen the menu yet). But then it took over 30 minutes for anyone to take our order. we ended up going inside to ask if we were supposed to order at the bar and they told us (rudely) they would meet us out at the table. We finished eating and waited, and waited, and waited for almost an hour before someone rushed by and grabbed our plates and left before we could ask for water or the check. At this point we were the only party outside and the inside was not busy. It was over an hour before anyone came to check on us, and to give us our check. It was a first date, that was going well so I didn't mind too much at the time. However 3 hours for service when we only got an entree and one beer each is absolutely insane. The female server seemed pretty alright, definitely a lot more helpful than the guy. I kind of complained and they just said that they don't have sections all the servers kind of help all the tables and sometimes a table gets overlooked. Not really an apology. Overall the service was awful. But the food was good and the beer selection was pretty decent. Hopefully they'll get more...
Read more7/24/20 update: they have started serving beers from other breweries and there are more options. The new food options being grilled on the patio are awesome, especially the chili cheese fries! My original 2 star review is now a 5!
We got a flight of their beers and couldn't find a single one we could finish. I had high hopes that this place would be good since they offer food when bathtub doesn't. But the beer is so bad. Get some tacos or pizza and go to bathtub.
6/26/20 Update: I've been back a couple times and have tried some more beers. Still not impressed with the beer, but it is improved when washing down food so you can't taste it. The chips and queso are good, but they do not have it currently with a limited Covid menu. The green chile grilled cheese is pretty good. They have opened an outdoor seating area on the grass that is MUCH better than the inside seating. It is incredibly loud inside, but the outside seating is much more relaxed. There was confusion between servers on how many could be at our table, one said we were OK at 7 and then we were admonished by another to split up. Masks are required to go inside and if you leave your table, but while you are at your table you can take it off...
Read moreBoese Bros Brewpub is a great addition to the - otherwise rather sparse - Los Alamos brewery-life. They perfectly meet an existing demand for a high-quality brewpub with a pleasant, relaxing environment. Contrary to Pajarito, Boese Bros provides excellent, above-and-beyond service: kind, helpful and truly attentive staff; continuous table-service; and actual interest in their guests needs and wants. Furthermore, their well-priced sandwich menu provides enjoyable snacks for your stay; a better alternative than Pajarito's classic but rather overpriced brewpub menu. Compared to the Bathtub, Boese Bros proves to be a good alternative choice. A different and wider-selection beer menu (and existing cider and wine menu) is on point, a perfect addition to this town; however, their prices are higher -- displayed prices not include the tax, and their $12 flight (for 4 4oz taster...) is definitely overpriced and should be re-thought. Nevertheless, the mentioned service quality, table service and sandwich menu justifies the slightly higher cost. Altogether Boese Bros is a great brewpub, and I am happy that they finally openned their doors; it worth the wait. I will be back, and can recommend anyone to...
