If you are experiencing a lack of sleep because you live on the Lucas side of the property, first know that you are not alone. If I were to write out the entire nightmare I have experienced here it would take pages long.
In short, we are told that it is not this management's responsibility to deal with excessive noise outside our windows. The activities include; semi-truck deliveries starting 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. while keeping their engines on. (My bedroom amplifies the noise. )Gardeners using blowers at 5. a.m. to 6:30 a.m. ( I am not making this up) and our new one, which basically sounds like a jet engine is landing at 4:30 a.m. and doesn't stop till 9. am. It's not possible to put in earplugs and sleep because none exist to block out so much disturbance.
With the help of city officials and my friends, some of the people creating this insanity have been cited. While we have been able to control old infractions to some extent, new ones are now starting, all while the management does 0 about it and says it is not their problem.
It cost me time, money, resources, and health and I even lost a job opportunity I really wanted because I couldn't keep up working on 3 hours of sleep. Now that I have hours of tapes as proof as well as city officials' testimony at hand, I am in the process of looking for attorneys to deal with this incredibly poor situation. The process of dealing with this management has caused me so much loss that at this point, I just want out. I am told I have an option to basically sublease. I cant in good consciousness lie to someone's face and allow someone to take this apartment on knowing they can lose their job, get into to car accident, and incur many other problems. So, I guess this management is leaving me no choice but to fight because, in their own words, there is nothing they will do. Meanwhile, it sounds like a jet engine is landing for hours on end outside, and it's 4 a.m. In the meantime to try to keep my job, I am considering sleeping in my car all while paying 3k a month for the apartment until I can get more city officials/departments to help get me out.
To the management; I am not subleasing this crazy situation so someone has to deal with it.
To Jonathan: you knew people were suffering and you stayed quiet. What do they pay you to keep your mouth shut, around $20 an hour? That is all it took to sell your humanity. I guess it would cost extra to make you care.
To Graystar; I was so happy to sublease here, but now I understand the catch. I thought this being Graystar it would be awesome. Unless we have a knockoff version, I was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was looking for a place the best of DTLA can offer me. After some serious apartment shopping, I finally found my spot!
First off, the leasing professionals here, Damian and Bryan are people you need! They really understood my situation and helped me. Really making you feel at home!
As for the apartment, I love the amenities here, particularly the rooftop and the grill areas (and they deep clean the grills everyday). There is so much outdoor space here that you always feel like you have all the space to yourself. I appreciate full-size gym with a yoga/spin studio. There is also a great lounge, speak easy room and a large TV/Karaoke room as well. The entire property feels like an urban modern park with great spaces to have fun with friends and family. The other perk of the complex is that there is a Starbucks, a grocery store (best prices in LA, Grocery Outlet Bargain Market) and also a Chipotle located downstairs in the retail spaces.
The apartment units are well appointed with a nice gas stove (looks expensive), large microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher, which are all stainless steel. As we found, laundry in-unit is a rarity here in LA. Each unit comes with upscale electrolux full size washer and dryer. And to follow the trend of saving energy, they have installed a Nest Thermostat. I am not sure about the other apartments but our came with a automatic blind in the living room, pretty cool feature. Also, which I find important, is that the apartments are well sound proofed.
As for the area, the immediate area is well maintenance and clean with a hospital next door. There is a handful of restaurants that are on the block; Plan Check, Starbucks (2 of them), Kachi (local coffee shop), Ebaes ramen, Thai Food Express, Brazil Kiss Coffee Bar. All those places are within a 3 min walk of the Sofia Los Angeles. If you feel like venturing a bit more on foot there is the 7th on Fig complex which has a ton of food options and shopping that everyone can afford and also a Target. Beyond 7th and fig there are all the food options in the downtown area as well that are fun to explore. In short, you can walk to Pershing park, LA Live and Staples center and all the restaurants with in 15 to 20 mins.
If you are a working professional that wants to have access to DTLA, The Metro, K-town, Easy access to the highway, all with a home that feels like an oasis I highly suggest that you take a look at the Sofia...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit: The end of our lease is approaching and I must say I absolutely love living here. No itās not perfect but I have never been in a place that allowed me the space and opportunity to get to know my neighbors. Thereās an event here almost every month, itās free for residents and guests, and itās always open bar and snacks. Great opportunity to network. I had to change my review to 5 Stars because the staff truly deserves it.
ā¦.
When my wife and I first visited Be DTLA we were in awe about pretty much everything. From the aesthetics of the exterior to the uniqueness of each unit we visited. Without further hesitation, we said yes to our new home.
For the first month, everything seemed to be near perfect. However, our upstairs neighbor proved to be a nightmare 30 days in. Without going in to too much detail or completely bashing the woman who is also a mother, it became extremely difficult to find a middle ground with her. This was after many attempts of humble communication and even a chance to mediate with her and the leasing office (in which she refused).
Nevertheless, this lead to countless of sleepless nights for both my wife and I. I fell behind on school and work. While all this was happening, we stayed in constant communication with the leasing office who was working with us to try make something happen. We are TRULY appreciative of this.
A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU TO LAUREEN (just one of the many great staff members here) for taking good care of us. The view to our new place is amazing. You are a joy to speak with and your energy is always golden. āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø
I didnāt give this place 5 stars because it could use some minor improvements. The pet area on the second building roof is extremely unpleasant to be around, Iāve found a few different unhoused individuals sleeping on the hallway floor in front of my door when I leave to teach my fitness classes at 4am, the hallways smell like dog urine (some places more than others), people leave their dog poop in the middle of the hallway (which my wife wrote a sign about and hung it near the elevator and we havenāt seen any sense, so I think it helped), and sometimes the night security cannot be found when needed.
No place is perfect, but this staff is hard working and they go above and beyond to make it worth...
