I cannot say enough good things about this venue! It was annoying to be told to arrive between 5 and 5:45 but not start letting the VIPs in until after 6pm. Little disorganized amongst staff, but everyone was nice and tried to help.
Parking is easy if you get the Park Whiz app. We walked less than 10 mins and pre-paid $10
The Novo is on floors 3 thru 5. With an elevator that moves you up and down. Unclear if the VIP tickets allow for GA admission. The printed tickets said so, but staff did not allow us in to purchase opening act merchandise.
3rd floor is general admission All standing, but it is all pretty close to the stage and there is a really long bar. Feels very intimate. After the show ended, we went down there to buy merchandise from the opening act and got to meet two individuals from the band including the singer. Very talented and fun to talk to.
5th floor is most balcony seating We never went up there but I am guessing there was a bar and bathrooms
4th floor is VIP lounge and lower balcony seating. We were in the second row, seats 205 to 207. On the map they look off-center but we felt like we were right in the middle! Odd thing is that the walkway is between 1st and 2nd rows. So if you want an unimpeded view from people coming and going then I recommend 1st or 4-6th rows. Not positive how high...it is stadium seating so 4th may be high enough.
The VIP lounge is worth it! Nice drink menu with spacious room and different seating set ups! Just enough glam looks and feels to make you feel like luxury. TV monitors that show the live show so you can see and hear when it starts. Easy access to bathrooms with plenty of stalls. Quick bartenders that remembered my order...which I got 3 times! Tip your bartenders...double the first tip and it goes a long way for good will. And it is just pennies in the bucket when adding up all your costs!
Sound is great! And from where we were sitting we could see the lead singers expressions! But above our heads there were 3 monitors for people higher up in the balcony! That is very...
Read moreWe went here on 10/31/24 for the Qveen Herby Halloween show. Our tickets were balcony VIP with the "quick pass" added for an additional $40.
First off, the fire alarms went off, and the LAFD showed up as the event started. Don't worry though, that was swept under the rug, and the venue wanted you to act as if nothing happened. For everyone's info, the "quick pass" is an absolute waste of money. At no point in time did the venue or event staff verify if anyone actually had a "quick pass." There were people just saying they had it and were able to go in first ahead of the other line. I recommend not wasting ANY money on the "quick pass" because it doesn't matter, nor does it get verified. Just say you have one next time and save the additional money.
Secondly, the venue states you aren't allowed to bring in vapes, weed, other drugs, alcohol, etc. While in our "VIP" seats, we witnessed 9 people busting out joint, lighters, and popping pills with their mini bottles. The security couldn't secure a sleeping grandmother, let alone anything in this venue. The amount of "prohibited" items let in through security was alarming.
Lastly, DONT PAY FOR VIP. Seriously, save your hard earned money and just purchase a GA ticket. We had a view of people's backs the entire time (because those in front insisted on standing and smoking joints the entire time in front of us). Also, to further reinforce the venues' ineptitude, during the main act, multiple people just kept moving up into the empty "VIP" balcony seats, although those clearly weren't their spots.
The entire venue and experience was an absolute waste of time/money. It was a joke, and Qveen should be concerned that her fans experienced this. If you want to attend an event at The Novo, just pay for the least expensive ticket, bring your own drugs/alcohol (skip paying $10.50 for a PBR), and take someone else's more expensive seat if they don't show up (don't worry, no one...
Read moreBought tickets to see a B-list artist and there were no other performers or opening acts listed. Arrived on time, as I've been burned once or twice before by assuming there would be openers when there weren't. Still expected the standard 2-3 opening acts, but wow.
We were forced to suffer through about a dozen TERRIBLE opening acts - none of which were announced or advertised. They were so awful our ears were hurting. Singing and rapping over tracks without even coming close to matching the notes or tones of their own songs.
This wasn't subjective. Barely anyone was dancing or applauding. It was like listening to bad karaoke and there was nowhere to go to escape it. After hours of this, we wondered if the headliner was even going to show, gave up, and left. We couldn't listen to discordant music for another minute.
I never would have bought these tickets had the lineup been properly advertised. I've been to countless concerts, festivals, and live shows. I have never been so disappointed in the openers. Usually I enjoy getting to hear new bands and performers.
There are few people who have earned the right to grace the stage after 11:30pm, and this has only happened a handful of times in the countless shows I've attended. Those artists, however, had clearly advertised and legitimate opening acts, and have been around for 20+ years. If The Novo had just played club music while we waited, I wouldn't have been so disappointed; but nobody deserves to suffer through endless amateur acts that they had no desire to see and are physically painful to listen to.
Also, the drinks offered at the bar were the worst choices I've ever encountered. 3 (gross) beers, cheap Cabernet or Chardonnay, and overpriced generic well drinks. Yuck.
Positives: the staff was friendly, and the layout/ambiance would have been cool....had the performers been any good, or anywhere close to what...
