On 05032023 from 10am to 12noon at the Los Angeles central libary. I asked the front desk children libarian where there any available electrical outlets. The librarian bearing wasn't so approachable when asking or explaining availability of the electrical outlet. But she managed to show me around to explain whatbwas available. an event was begining to start for the children libary. My child was approach by an lady when the event for children were in the circle. Didn't ask me as the parent just went to have an conversation with my child to pertisapate in the event while im working on documents. After the event was finish headed towards the art room to finish the rest of Sent documents. This libary notice the child first not the parent. Security guards wave high to my child while living. The reason why an child acts out. I understand to make the child comfortable; but what about the parent/ guardian with the child. Some parents or guardians have errands if really concerned for the child.
05042023 at 1030am arrived at the central los angeles library with my child. Went to the 2nd floor children station. Talked to the female libarian in regards of available outlets. She mentioned to me that parents are to stay with their child while in the children department. I Set up the laptop and libarian offered color paper with crayons for my child. While working on my laptop an female with child approached me with child and stated if my child could play with her child. I stated no due to the policy the labarian mention to me regarding parents with children/guardians. Then the female with child stated why couldn't my child play with her child again I stated no and she walked off. Called the libary at 3pm to report it to the security department. An female security officer told of the policy regarding the child with parent/guardian. The child frm 11 and under are to be with the parent/guardian. I gave the security officer my name to report this incident. I also asked does the children libary get herassment by parents. She stayed im the first parent as of today. She then mention that on the children department they get alot of adults on that floor. Then I asked her to talk with her supervisor. I've talked with Sgt and he explained that no one should be harassed in the libary or feel uncomfortable with or without...
Read moreThis library is a must visit when exploring downtown L.A. But do note there some considerations when visiting.
The library is a beautiful product of architectural design. From the columns to the paintings both outside and inside. It is truly a sight to see. Even the outside area of the library is beautiful. There is a free tour given by volunteer docents of the library that offer insight into various architectural aspects. During our visit there was an exhibit celebrating the library's rise from the ashes of a fire that occurred in the 80's. I would recommend checking out the children's wing and the history wing of the library. Both of these wings have beautiful walls painted in the most elaborate themes. The condition of the library inside is immaculate. It seems the upmost care is taken to insure the library in the inside does not look like the environment surrounding the library.
The library is extremely large. Various floors house books of various disciplines. The library also houses a small gift shop and a small enclosed outside patio. The first floor also houses the police desk which provides security for the library.
I highly recommend you stop by the information counter on your visit. The librarians here are very informative and can guided you in the right direction to whatever you are looking for when visiting the library. I highly recommend you registering for a library card as parking at the Library for members is much cheaper than parking lots anywhere around the area (free on weekends, a few bucks on weekdays).
The only drawback here is the smell that permeates certain areas of the library. The smell is a mix of bad body odor and filth. It is much more noticeable when visiting certain library wings rather than the large halls. I do not recommend using the restrooms here as these facilities are outdated and do not seem to be cared for or...
