We found this hotel online, using a hotel booking app, which we have had numerous successful experiences with before. Because of our experiences, we booked the Mayfair Hotel, despite the "Under Construction" notification on the hotel website. Noise wouldn't be an issue because we were arriving late and leaving early.
My wife and I arrived late Friday evening, after dinner and a show. Valet wasn't clearly marked, so we preceded to the parking structure, which was attached and managed by the Mayfair Hotel. The parking spaces were very undersized, and on a slope, so we opted to park at the top of the parking structure (to avoid door dings), which had plenty of open and flat parking.
The next morning, we were awaken by the sound of construction, which we weren't too annoyed about, since we knew before hand, construction was underway. We checked out and proceeded to our car. As we approached, we noticed a piece of PVC pipe laying in front of our car (we backed into the parking space). I tossed it to the side, and thought nothing of it until I opened my wife's door, and saw the huge dent on the top of the roof and on the side of the door. We were both bewildered. We immediately notified the front desk, and called the police. The police informed us to work it out with the hotel management. One of the maintenance supervisors accompanied me out to my vehicle, and witnessed the construction debris, as well as the open windows, several floors up in the hotel, where the construction was underway. We both agreed, it looked as if the workers were attempting to toss the debris, into a roll-off dumpster, located on the side of the parking structure.
I eventually was referred to the General Manager, Mr. Joseph White, which he acknowledge the hotel being under construction, but all out denied active engagement of construction during our stay (which contradicts what the Maintenance Manager observed, and heard). He subsequently, informed me he would forward the issue to the Hotel's Insurance Provider, for resolution.
I had this conversation with Mr. White on 2/2/2016, and as of today, 4/4/2016, I've heard from neither the Insurance Provider, nor Mr. White.
My Insurance company has attempted to contact Mr. White, but has yet to receive a call from him or his Insurance Provider.
I would highly recommend choosing a different hotel, for your stay. Not only are the parking spaces and rooms undersized, the hotel security, and management is less...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Mayfair on a business trip for one night. Worked all day and had to get up early. When I checked in, the woman that checked me in could care less who I was or even looked at me. She put me in a room right next to the elevators, which were loud as hell. So I went back to get another room. I dealt with a second woman at the front desk who was equally uninterested in helping me or communicating. At this point, I'm not feeling very welcome or stoked to stay in this 'nice hotel'. The new room was kinda funky and not really what I expected for what I was paying but was too tired to deal with it. Well this change in rooms would prove to be a disaster. I went to bed at 9:30pm and awoke at 10:30 to a loud group in the hall. I brushed it off and tried to go back to sleep. At 11:15 it was apparent that this group was right across the hall from me having a raging party. I opened the door and hotel security was already there to fix it. Yay, sleep again. Nope. This continued for 2 more hours with the party getting bigger, louder and filling the halls. I called the front desk to change rooms and they couldn't because they were full they said. Their efforts to stop this party were so weak. I heard one security guard say: "I don't give a f%#& what these people do in the room" as he left for the 3rd time. Awesome. By 2:30 the party was finally dispersed into the hallway and in front of my door only to yell, argue and scream for 30+ minutes before finally leaving.||||Fell asleep by 3:30am. Had to be up at 7am. When I left, I informed the front desk of my horrible night and they seemed clueless that this event happened. They offered to comp my parking. Not good enough I said, so they took 1/2 off my bill, but kept the parking on it. Needless to say, this was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at matched with the apathy of the staff. The room was tiny and just lackluster, and for $300 for one night, totally not worth it. All that aside, the fact that they didn't shut this party down the first time around baffles me. There were 30 people in a room made for 2 people. Stay at your own risk, but hey, if you want to go party and not sleep, then this hotel is for you... the staff won't give a...
Read moreI have stayed at the Mayfair Hotel for the past 2 years as it was close to Good Samaritan Hospital where I teach several times a year. Since my first stay when the lobby was being remodeled I have been pleasantly surprised with each new change. The latest was the opening of the fitness room and pool. What a beautiful design and landscaping and view of the city skyline, especially at night from the pool! What an ideal place for a party or just to decompress after a long day. The original and diverse artwork at the hotel never fails to impress, which often changes and offers artists a showcase as some pieces are for sale. Each floor is unique and dynamic in terms of art. There was a great band I enjoyed in the bar on my last night and a warm and charming waitress, Nicole who served me. The help at the hotel is wonderful from the front desk (John was great in particular), porters, and valets who daily brought my car and doorman Manny who welcomed me by name. He has served me graciously the past 2 years and stated he has worked at this hotel for 20 years! When I had an issue with my room the first night (my neighbors partying at 12:30 pm loudly, they addressed the issue immediately and moved me to an upgraded deluxe room the next day at no charge). I love the convenience, personal service and feeling of being "home" when I stay at the Mayfair. Somehow they have managed to keep the elegance of the 1929 era that the hotel was built but made it contemporary and cutting edge with the art and other touches in a perfect blend for any age guest. It is also very affordable compared to other downtown hotels of similar stature and very clean with nice bedding. I recommend the Mayfair Hotel to tourists, business travelers, those wanting a romantic getaway or simply to have a fun evening eating at the great restaurant and enjoying the bar, pool view, and beautiful...
