Born and raised in Guyana, I was craving some good cooked food. After seeing social media posts from the owner claiming to have “The best Caribbean food in LA,” I was excited to try it. I hyped up my parents and family and bought food to share, but it ended up in the garbage almost immediately.
The chicken curry was extremely bland, with no spice or flavor whatsoever. The meat was partially uncooked (pink/frozen on the inside). The dahl was dry dry, and the roti was a dry tortilla. The beef patties were hollow, dry, hard and extremely crunchy—a complete joke. Not a single dish was appetizing or edible. The hostess/server was very young and very American, and the kitchen staff clearly were not at all from the West Indies. It's no wonder the food tasted the way it did. It tasted like someone found a “Caribbean recipe” or as the Americans like to call it “Jamaican Food” on YouTube, tried to make it, and failed terribly.
The atmosphere was cute though, and I got excited when I pulled up and saw the flags and heard the Soca music, but that was it! Additionally, the food is way overpriced. It's a shame because I wanted to love this place so much, but it wasn’t worth a single dime, not even a penny. I will not be returning. This place clearly prioritizes profit and social media attention over food quality. Save...
Read moreThis restaurant was one of the worst experiences at Caribbean restaurant I ever had. The advertising is totally false. I ordered $100 worth of food and was given a terribly served fish for $36. Totally not worth it. I asked for no sauce on top the sauce was on top hardly no meat. I ordered the jerk pasta and was not given the asparagus at all. I had to wait for over 35 minutes for two asparagus when the advertisement literally shows 5 pieces or at least 4 pieces of asparagus on the picture, the cashier told me oh that’s just the picture for the plates here it just comes with two asparagus. That’s false advertisement. …T Time is valuable, and it was a big waste of my time!
I would not recommend this restaurant to no one never. there was only two other customers no need to get treated bad
The chef came out and tried to get me to keep the food and asked me oh why would I give a review to KFC or McDonald ? I don’t eat a KFC or McDonald’s . I literally came to a restaurant and spent $100 on three small plates of food. I had to even pay for extra side of planting because it didn’t come with a traditional Caribbean meal as it usually does at every other Caribbean restaurant.
I gave a five dollar tip and I should’ve asked for the reimbursement...
Read moreI was looking for a Jamaican spot to eat when I stumbled upon this restaurant after leaving an event in Beverly Hills. I was suppose to dine in but had an emergency to tend to but before that, I did get my food to go. I was disappointed at all. I’ve been to Jamaica plenty of times and this place is as close as I’ve had to the real thing. They’ve got to have someone’s grandma back there cooking. I got Rasta pasta with jerk chicken, honey bbq wings, and fries. When I did get the chance to eat it, everything was as tasty as it could get. My waitress who took my order was very patient with me and she even understood when I told her that I had to change my order to go. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Jamaican restaurant. I didn’t get a chance to take pictures but I will at a later date. UPDATE! I did go back and visit the is place again. Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint. I took plenty of videos and pictures this time. I repeat, don’t sleep on this place. Some of the best Jamaican food I’ve had in LA. Reminds me of actually being in Jamaica to which I go every year so I know good Jamaican food. Go check this spot out for real. I highly...
