Hollywood VIP Hotel — Attraction in Los Angeles

I stayed at the Hollywood VIP Hotel June 29th to July1— and in this case, VIP should stand for "Very insufferable poo-heads," and I am talking about the help if you could call them “help”. When I checked in, the front door was locked. I knocked, as instructed by the sign on the door, and someone came and opened the door and did not say a word. I followed him up to the front desk counter, pulled out my identification and credit card to check in. He ignored me and sat there for about 20 seconds, texting on his phone. So, I said to him, "When you’re ready for me, let me know and I’ll come back up here." Then I went to sit down in a chair, and the chair collapsed underneath me, and I fell to the floor. It hurt quite a bit.||Instead of asking me if I were all right, he said he would take care of it, as though I had created a mess and he would fix it. So, I went over to a couch and said, "Is this couch safe to sit on?" and he replied, "Yes." I sat down on the couch, which was right in front of a soda machine. I opened the soda machine and grabbed a soda. I said, "this will begin to make up for the fall I just took." He said that I would have to pay three dollars for that soda. I said, "Are you kidding me? I just fellw in your hotel’s wobbly chair. I should be getting at least this for free." He said, "No, it wasn’t for free, and what was my problem—was I on drugs? Why was I being so rude? Why did I bring all that bad attitude in through the hotel?"||I said, "I didn’t have a bad attitude until you stood there texting on your phone, ignoring me completely what I was waiting to check in and then when I fell in your chair.” He then said that he was looking for a room for me. I said Well it would have helped if you acknowledge my presence or said SOMETHING. He said I did say hello and open the door although I did not hear him say such a thing, nor did my friend was with me. And I have been looking for a room. Suddenly he decided it was too early for me to check in and I would have to wait until 3 o’clock. This is at 1:00 PM. Emotional for me to go and I said I will just sit right here in the lobby until it is time for me to check in because I am registered guests to be. He did threatened to cancel my reservation.||||For the next 20 minutes, there was an icy silence in the lobby. At that point, I went outside because I was going to start calling attorneys and looking into a lawsuit against the Hotel for the injuries I sustained in that fall. I was in pain, and he did not seem to care at all. It’s too busy acting important. I hate it when front desk clerks act like they are so much better than the people they are checking in, and he was full of this attitude. I checked into the room. The room was fine. It was nothing special. Nothing bad about it particularly except for the fact that the hot water did not start coming out warm until about 10 minutes after the shower had been started. I didn’t discover this until the next day when I was getting ready to go out for the day and let the shower run and noticed that after letting the water run for about four minutes and then getting into the cold shower for about six minutes, it began to get warm and warm up finally to a nice warm temperature. ||The pillows did not suffice for the king size bed and the headboard was one of the pillows could slip through so it was very aggravating to keep having to grab the pillows, and move them back and also had to triple them up and for them to make a pillow that was comfortable for me, and they only gave me three pillows. ||The next morning, I went to renew my room for one more night. Thank God there was a different front desk agent there although he did not appear to be too much better than the first one at when I was checking in. I asked him if he would throw away a piece of paper for me it was a small piece of paper and he took the piece of paper from me and then it’s almost like a second thought and he said oh I’m sorry we don’t have any waste baskets back here, I shot back, “How very frugal of you.”||Should you foolishly choose to stay there and put up with that abuse from the front desk people I would suggest you prepare a lot of patience because you are going to need it for this day. There are plenty of other hotels that are much nicer. If I could give them a zero I would. This hotel looks lovely online, not bad in person either. Once you get unpacked and comfortable everything starts to become revealed. This is a bit much so be prepared to read on. I called on the way from a 7 hour drive and asked to check in early, they told me 1:30 was fine, I get there and they said check in is at 3. Don’t know why they would tell me early check in is ok if it’s clearly not. So I get there use the rest room and come out, the house keeper and front desk person are yelling at each other. So unprofessional! At this point I have a feeling I’m going to have an unpleasant stay. So I get my parking pass (which is $20 a day for minimal, unsafe parking btw) go to the back of the hotel and park. There are multiple homeless people around 2 of whom were digging in the hotels dunpster. A man smoking weed near the door, mind you I had a 9 year old and 1 year old with me. So I come inside and the ENTIRE first floor, where my room is, smells so strongly of marijuana. I get in my room take my shoes off, get ready to lay down, then notice there is no remote in the room. Not a huge deal but after a long trip, and later check in, I don’t want to go in and out of the room. I go to the front tell them I need a remote and wait. Few minutes later I got to watch the tv and unwind. I finally try to get comfortable on the bed, with very loose head boards that slam into the wall everytime I lay down. Then I hear loud voices of others I’m assuming are staying in the hotel. By this time it’s only 5-6pm so I don’t expect it to be very quiet, but then 10-11pm comes around and the notices get worse. I had the worst time sleeping due to loud people, ice machines and smell of marijuana. I got up to go get my daughters blanket out of my car and the parking lot is full of what I’m assuming is homeless drug addicted people. So I decided to move my car closer to the camera, I doubt that even works. The door was kept open by a groceries bag of clothes. At this point I’m starting to think they allow these people to come in and be around. Not safe at all. Finally after some sleep aids and head phones I was able to get a few hours of sleep. During the middle of the night to about 5am there were so many noises of people being loud and rude and that damn ice machine. Ridiculous!! The time came for me to take my children to the amusement park, I put a DO NOT DISTURB sign on my door, in most hotels that means DO NOT ENTER OR BOTHER ME. Not in this case. I came back my stuff was moved around the towels were taken out but not replaced, so when I came back to shower later in the evening I didn’t have towels. I went to the front desk to get new towels was told it would be 8-10 minutes. You would think I could at least get the towels brought to me. Of course not!!! 20 minutes later I go ask for 4 towels, the man hands me 3 unfolded towels, no wash cloths. At this point I’m just waiting to write this review. Once again a sleepless night. I checked out the next day and as I’m in line to take my children to the amusement park, I get a call from the rude lady at the hotel. She tells me they are charging me $25 extra dollars for towels that I ruined. She was so rude, I asked if she could let it go and explained my horrible experience and she told me absolutely not. So I said what’s on the towels because some of the ones they brought had been stained with something and I wasn’t sure what it was so I used them for the floor. She tell me very rudely, “it’s an orange substance, I don’t know what it is, we took pictures”. I just hung up at that point because I had absolutely nothing nice to say. In conclusion this hotel is pretty much the worst experience I have ever had, and I travel often. This place is a housing center for homeless people and allows drug use. I would like to start this review first and foremost by the fact that I am a female college student, who was simply trying to find a comfortable, yet inexpensive hotel while visiting in LA for two days. Never have I experienced such an inconsiderable amount of disrespect and disgust in a matter of an hour. Upon arrival, I could tell this hotel was obviously not what it had advertised- and that’s off of strictly curb appeal. Walking in, I was required to pay a $40 cash deposit for not smoking in the room, which didn’t seem unreasonable until I realized you will not receive that deposit back until after your room check- which is often times and in my case, after you check out and therefore unreceivable. Walking into my room, I cannot begin to stress how large of a genuine health hazard this establishment proved to be. There was no lock on the bedroom door, and the window (facing directly into neighboring apartment windows) did not lock or even shut. There were dark reddish, brown stains on the walls, the doors, the bathroom wall, behind the toilet, on the ceiling above the bed, and on the curtains. There’s no doubt in anyones mind what these stains and spots could be, as there was also a signifying “MURDER” written on the bedroom wall. There was chunks of hair on the floors, and also stuck to the bathroom walls- not the shower walls. I am easily able to accept a shabbier than chic hotel, I’m in my early twenties and I’m on a budget- but I will not expect me or my guest who was staying with me to receive a tetanus shot on our way out the door. There was complete capability for anyone to enter that room at any point, so I’m sure that was certainly blood all over my room. When I tried to explain to the front desk agent that I was extremely uncomfortable for my friend and I and would not be staying there, I was informed of not only the deposit policy I mentioned before, but that there are no refunds distributed. There was no manager or management company phone number she could provide me, and began to become very loud with me as I was expressing very suitable concerns. She offered us another room, which had not been cleaned by the hotel cleaning company in I don’t know how long- as there was a trash bag with flies floating around it as well as an ac unit that was broken. We agreed at this point to just leave, but were reminded that we were wrong for asking for any assistance and for speaking poorly to her. I am hoping by the extent and concern of this review will reach at least one person, so that I can save someone the time, money, and obviously their safety by not staying...
