Post edit 08/01/2025: I came back to update my service rating to a 3, solely in honor of the bellhop/valet. He was incredibly kind, genuine, and attentive. His warmth and professionalism truly stood out. He was a 5/5.
Everything was going good until I extended my stay an extra day. I didn’t pay a second deposit so they kicked my 11 year old son and I out after paying $300 for another day. We are 1700 miles away from home. I’m devastated, embarrassed, and heartbroken. All together I spent over $1000 only to be escorted and kicked out by security because I didn’t pay a second deposit.
Update as I sit at the airport:
I paid $663.14 upfront for a 3-day stay. At the time of booking, it clearly stated that an additional $105 would be due at check-in, in which I fully understood and prepared for. However, upon arrival, the hotel suddenly demanded a $300 deposit. Only after I showed them the confirmation email did they agree to reduce it to $125. I checked in early due to my morning flight, a situation I had already called ahead and explained. I was told that early check-in would cost $100 if rooms were available, which I accepted for the comfort of my 11-year-old son. My return flight on Monday was delayed until midnight, so I made the responsible and safest decision to book one more night, despite knowing we’d be checking out at about 8 p.m on Monday but I still paid for the hotel until Tuesday. Prior to booking, I called the front desk to explain the situation and was told I needed to book a full extra night online due to my original third-party reservation. I paid $227.91 for the extra night (Monday-Tuesday) and confirmed with staff that we could stay in the same room. At this point, I had spent a total of $1,016.05 for four days. On Monday, after returning from Universal Studios, my key no longer worked. I went to the front desk and was told I had to pay another $100 deposit, even though I had already paid a deposit and the site stated there would only be a $30 resort fee. When I refused to pay yet another fee, they called security to escort me and my child out. We were kicked out of a paid room 1,700 miles from home. I was humiliated, in tears, and left without a place to go with my son. That moment shattered me. I live a good life, work hard, and treat people with kindness. I never imagined something like this would happen to us. This was my first and last time in Los Angeles. I will be contacting General Manager Matthew LaVine and corporate, and I have video footage of the entire incident. This was inhumane and completely unacceptable. This isn’t about the money. It’s about integrity, respect, and making sure no other family is ever treated this way again. Once I’m home, I will ensure that this story is heard...

Read moreValet costs, a scammy, $65 a night and they damaged my car. I paid $302 for them to damage my vehicle then ignore me and have me wait around forever when I asked to see the security footage. They would not oblige without a subpoena from the police. They said I might need to talk to the mall about the damage. I paid $302 to the hotel for safe keeping of my vehicle. I won't be speaking to the mall. Take a video of your entire vehicle, inside and out, for proof to fight against these liars. Looking for breakfast near the hotel isn't easy. The buffet costs $34 a person. The hotel bodega is the other option and it sucks. I had a doughy, extremely undercooked, strawberry cream cheese croissant pastry. You could literally stretch the dough. I had to throw it away even though I was hungry. For fear of food poisoning. That disappointment cost $4. The Bodega had no good options for breakfast or a snack. What should be complimentary coffee and tea has a nominal price. The croissant was freshly dethawed on a cardboard box as the flavor represented. Heated by staff but still cold in the middle from the dethawing process. They should advertise "Freshly Frozen". A disgusting $4 purchase. I didn't know croissant could be so upsetting.
The locked lobby bathrooms were am extremely frustrating situation for many.
Rude staff, from check-in, desk, people, to dock master, to security. Nobody was polite, courteous, or understanding.
The rooms were bad. I have stayed in much better Holiday Inn rooms. The bed was, at least, comfortable. The water pressure of the shower was pathetic and took ages to wet my hair. The shampoo was the consistency of cold honey and dried my hair out. The conditioner was empty upon arrival but I, suppose, okay, once refreshed. The soap is watered down and doesn't smell great. The toilet flushes so pathetically you cannot use the "less water" function. The option to save water doesn't release enough pressure to make the toilet paper flush. You have a tiny fridge but no microwave in room. This hotel sucks, but if you want to be situated in, disgusting, Hollywood, I guess it's okay. I came for work and would never book this place for myself. The catering from the hotel was delicious. That's the only great thing I can say...
