Earlier today (June 15, 2019) was the grand opening of the Line Friends store in Hollywood. As stated in their website, the the first 300 paying customers would receive a "free BT21 gift box."
Seeing this, my friend and I decided to head to the store to wait in line, at 4 AM. In line, my friend counted every person and open space that was in front of us; therefore, we were #252 and #253.
As a staff member with a tally counter counted 300 people, of whom my friend and I were part of, he cut the line off some ways behind us. However, when it was time to supposedly distribute the VIP wristbands that would allow paying customers to receive their "free BT21 gift box" upon exiting, my friend and I were not given wristbands. In fact, the staff member passed out the wristbands to the people in front of us, as well as giving the people behind us wristbands when they said, "I went to the bathroom, and my spot is here." When in fact, their spot was a long ways away from the actual first 300 people.
How is it that not just my friend and me, but also the groups in front of ours, who came at 2 AM to 4 AM were being punished for respecting the line, while those who came at 7 AM and later lied and were rewarded.
Finding groups of girls who had the same experience as us, we asked to speak with the manager and express our frustration. Upon his arrival, he consistently refused to listen to paying customers. We explained that there were about 100 people who cut the line in front of us, moving us from #252 to #352. However, the manager argued that those 100 people were all in the bathroom, and when asked how is it possible for exactly 100 people to be in the bathroom at 4 AM, he said, "It is possible in a line with 1,000 people."
There was not 1,000 at 4 AM. Only about 300, including people behind us. The manager continued to say that there were no more VIP wristbands, there was nothing he or the store could do, and that there were no more "free BT21 gift boxes" left in the store, when in fact a customer with a wristband interrupted my explanation to demand for a gift box, he in quickly agreed to go get one from the back, returning 2 minutes later with a gift box.
The manager, fed up, left us alone while another employee pointed towards the door and told us to leave in order for new customers to come in.
As a paying customer, it disappoints me that a newly opened, permanent store openly lies to its customers, refuses to listen, and quickly attempts to cover the situation up by escorting its customers out of its store.
Next time you host an event, know that you need to train your employees well for any situation that may arise, as multiple staff members responded to questions asked by customers with, "I don't know."

When I walked in they told me it was five minutes till they closed even thought it was 6:50 and it says online that they close at 7. So instead of shopping I looked and took picture of all of the BTS and BT21 characters and decorations. While I did that the security guard placed at the front door started mocking me saying, âyou had five minutes to shop but someoneâs taking picturesâ and laughed with some other worker at me. I felt so disrespected and Iâve never seen such terrible customer service. In the past Iâve had great experiences with this store, but it seems that they donât train their employees very well with customer service anymore. If they had been trained well they would know that many BTS Stanâs go into that store TO TAKE PICTURES.    Read moreThe staff is very rude. We walked in 10 minutes to close and were told we only had 5 minutes to shop because they close 5 minutes early. Nowhere on the website or store windows does it say âclosing at 6:55â it all says 7 pm. We took pictures around the store because we knew we wouldnât have time time to look around the store to find what we wanted to buy and also take pictures. While we were finishing up our pictures, the security guard started saying rude and disrespectful things to us and about us with another worker. He said things like âlook who was talking about when the store closes and their only taking comes in to take picturesâ or âall you came in to do was take pictures why are you complaining about the hoursâ and more things to that effect.
