Recreated medieval torture devices...nothing is original so this is not a historic museum in any shape or form. The displays are interactive and for the most part are ok. A lot of the "victims" have been further victimized by tourists so hence there are missing toes and fingers...There is no signal whatsoever in the basement where the museum is but a free wifi along with an audio tour is provided. It is a tourist trap, no questions about it and you have to park and pay for parking and endure the Hollywood traffic and everything else that comes with it...homeless, people selling stuff or posing in the crowded sidewalks, people on loudspeakers pushing religion or some agenda, etc. Back to the museum: it is unkempt; there is garbage, hair, dust. I guess for a torture museum who can complain that the floors and walls are filthy, but I think the really scary part of the museum are the bathrooms. Oh boy. As much as I was happy there were restroom on premises it was very clear they don't get cleaned often. I think they put one person there who is to sell and scan tickets, sell merchandise and attend to the museum so naturally it cannot be expected to be maintained. Personally, I was done looking through the exhibition in 30 minutes but my son wanted to listen to the audio at each station so hence it took us 1.5 hrs to complete the tour. Finally, the price is pretty steep for what the museum really offers. Would I recommend it? If you have extra $30 and an hour to kill and in that area, then it is something to check out. If nothing else, you will leave despising humanity and what the human mind is...
Read moreWhat can I say this place fun and very insightful. So much to see and learn also the best part was being able to take photos with the displays and some you can move was awesome!!
Things worth knowing in advance Parking sucks so go early and willing to walk and possibly pay for parking up to $30.00. we found one parking lot for $20.00 On Las Palmas st. Like 2 block away or the back streets. This place was not handicapped equipped so lucky for me I seen enough videos on social media where I saw people going down stairs, so I took my Cain which was very helpful to help me go down and back up the stairs. Other than that it was easy and they did have a small ramp /stairs in one area. Yes they also have restrooms in the bottom floor of the museum which was great. The people were great and friendly. If you're fearful of snakes you may come across a guy with some at the front door but he will kindly step a side if you let him know you're afraid of them. He will take photos with his snakes but he does charge so take some cash if you want to take the pics. He also takes various pay options. There is also a photo area with different crops which was awesome and they even had a light ring for better lighting. I totally recommend this place... If you're not into seeing bloody corpse or anything of that story this may be a bit much for you. They also have barcode to download and take a voice tour and info on all the displays or read it too. And ghost hunting app too. I will be...

It’s obvious that the owners know their way around SEO and reports reviews written by … dissidents(?) who either write a poor review or do not believe the $29.99 admission price was worth the equal amount of time you’ll spend there. I don’t think this place deserves five stars on basis of how much of the space is filler for true horror fans and how little of it is genuinely medieval. Non-oriental cultural representation was also lacking — that one mannequin toward the end was wearing black face. Did you know you can buy ethnic mannequins instead? Fix it.
As originally written: Nice little opportunity to spend an afternoon if you’re already on Hollywood Blvd. It is an important note of measure to any goths that these are [obviously] props with [obviously] safety measures in place and even though it is interactive the really fun things cannot be touched! Still a good way to spend an afternoon nonetheless.
Rating: 5 stars for the date I had here, 2.5 for the venue/attraction itself. It’s...
