I normally don’t write reviews for places but I’m hoping this will have an impact to create some sort of change.
Just walked in today and for the umpteenth I received a very snooty attitude - from people I’ve never even seen working there. When I came in, one of the gals said hello from the back of the store and looked around for a good 30-40 minutes. Nobody offered further assistance or checked in with me, but several women came in after me (older in age), and each of the young gals working there took turns walking to the front of the store to greet them and offer assistance right away. This is not the first time I’ve been treated this way.
WHBM is meant to be a “high end” fashion stop for this area. However, apparently because I’m young, or have in the past gone shopping in comfortable clothing (not dressed to the nines), it’s assumed that I’m not worth spending the time on because I may not have money to spend there. Back when this store first opened I went there anytime I needed to make a shopping trip. Because of my upbringing I was taught it’s worth it to spend a bit more on clothing and treat it well... it will last longer, rather than shopping at places such as Charlotte Russe or rue 21. I’m happy to drop a good chunk of money on clothing for multiple reasons and have done so a WHBM in the past.
Yes, I wanted to look at the sale section first. Not because I’m cheap, but simply because I’m human and I’m not too good for clearance items. I also am aware that retail clothing is often marked up anywhere from 50-300% from cost.
Ive even received this attitude at the Cherry Creek Mall down south when I was 19, helping some friends shop for business professional attire and an associate walked up to us and very hesitatingly said hello and asked me if I knew what type of clothing they sold there, and even after I said yes, I’ve shopped at WHBM for quite some time, she ushered us over to clearance without prompting.
It’s just very demeaning when you’re treated that way just because you’re young or decided to wear a hoodie, jeans and tennis shoes. I’ve worked hard since I was 12 and value spending my hard earned money on nicer, well made items. I just implore the district and regional managers in this state to teach their sales associates that you should not judge a customer on their appearance or age - they could very well miss a 500$ sale that day. Also, if a young woman does want to improve their closet and is new to spending more on clothing - don’t look at her with disdain or disgust like my friends and I were at cherry creek. Help them. Treat them with kindness, and build a life long customer for the company that you’re representing. Don’t devalue anybody that walks through your doors.
I’m not sure what the values of WHBM are as a company, but they’re being represented rather poorly by multiple stores. I’ve stopped in over the last couple years and have had one positive experience in that whole time with sales associates. Im officially taking my...
Read moreToday was my first time shopping at WHBM, also my first time shopping for quality business clothing. I was promptly greeted by Karen who was an absolute doll! I had an idea of what I liked, but Karen was able to expand on what I was looking for and helped me find two outfits that were absolutely perfect! After today, I will gladly continue shopping at this store for years to come, from clothes for work but, also clothes for everyday.
I would also like to take the time to state that I went into the store dressed extremely casual, freshly washed and dried hair, and no make-up. Karen did not hesitate to help without a single judgement passed and I really appreciate this. I also have piercings and many tattoos but, she never assumed anything about me or my character based on my looks alone. I have shopped at other higher-end stores in this location and every single time I have been told, “Maybe a cardigan or long sleeves underneath to cover up those tattoos?” When trying on short sleeves or tanks. Karen actually picked pieces that complimented my tattoos and showed them.
Karen has no idea how much of an impact she has made on me today and I really look forward to working with her in the...
Read moreReally disappointed today in my relationship with this store. My very favorite pair of business casual slacks are purchased from this location on a regular basis. I have about three or four pairs of the same style of pant. I've worn them very little because of Summer this specific color about 2 times. They were purchased in August. The last time I washed this pair of the light gray, a weird straight line across one leg of the pants showed up after a set dry. (I wash on delicate and set dry then hang in my closet). To me it was very clearly a manufacturer's defect in the fabric. They would not exchange this pant for any reason. This frustration after trying to order the black and white polka dot dress that never came to the floor (fall catalog) for an event. I even set an appointment for a try on of this dress. I was never notified it didn't come in and found out while I came in for my appointment on a Saturday morning. I came all the way up from Erie. Needless to say both of these situations have brought me to the conclusion that unfortunately the store is no longer a place to purchase my...
