My wife and I went to go see Thor: Love and Thunder, last night. We chose the local AMC Theater, here in Lufkin. We've been here a few times and it hasn't been this bad. However, several months ago, myself along with 2 friends came to see Spiderman: No Way Home. The only problem we had then was that the popcorn made all of us sick. So yhis time, I avoided the popcorn. My wife had one of those giant pretzels. But it seems those also get doused with the same "butter". It upset her stomach. I did have a couple bites and it had a weird aftertaste, so I didn't eat much of it. For me the worst part was that the sound in the theater #4, was messed up. Not only did the show start about 7 minutes late, but the sound was not working properly. The left side speakers were not working at all. So the voice track was playing on the right side and was lower than the speakers at the screen. The screen speakers were turned up way too high, so that when the music would be blaring, you couldn't hear the actors talking!
Anyway, the film itself was good. The theater experience sucked. I hope they get the technical issues fixed before I go back. I may be going to the other movie theater in town for a...
Read moreIf your looking to watch a movie, in a comfortable environment I would recommend visiting AMC. I am currently an AMC A-lister, which is a great paid program. For $21 and some change, I can see 3 movies a week, with no current limitations. (That effect this particular location) I also earn points for purchases at concessions , and the monthly membership fees also counts towards points. The staff is friendly and quick from my experience & the theaters are always clean. I have orders alcoholic drinks from the new bar and they are worth the price! I also love the fact the seats are now heated, so I don't get as cold as I used to. The only down side is, the seats are so comfortable you risk falling asleep during the movie. (Not so bad when your watching a movie with your SO/family/or friends that isn't...
Read moreWe purchased tickets for a Thursday evening show. Our seats were broke and did not heat. We changed seats several times but never found two seats together that worked properly.
The theater was so cold that in July in east Texas on a 100 degree day my wife and I had to use jackets and a blanket.
We missed most of the previews and extras because the sound played with no visuals on the screen. Several businesses advertised during this time including local and national businesses. I would be livid if I spent money on that advertising.
The Icee machine was frozen and inoperable but they still sold me a cup .
All this was reported to the on duty manager to no avail.
People wonder why these places do poorly. I doubt we will return. Very...
