I purchased a used 2006 minivan and was searching for a reliable mechanic to perform some work. A friend who had a positive experience recommended this shop to me. After dropping off my van for an assessment, I was pleased to receive a detailed estimate shortly afterward, complete with photos, videos, and clear descriptions of the issues. I was already happy at this point as some previous shops considered my ride too geriatric to bother with.
The review was categorized into optional, mandatory, and critical repairs to address. Their estimate was clear and thorough so I could prioritize and make an informed decision. During our call, my questions were answered thoroughly and in a way that helped me fully understand the situation. For the few follow-up questions they couldn’t immediately answer, they promptly called me back within an hour with the information I needed, and I authorized the work.
They assured me they’d call when the van was ready or if anything unexpected came up. A few days later, I was happy to hear it was ready for pickup. After bumming a ride to the shop, they went over the thorough outline of the work performed with me, and the associated costs. The only problem I had with the payment was with my credit card company, and they patiently worked with me prior to closing on a Friday to sort it.
Some of the repairs included addressing a tired suspension, and I was thrilled with how smooth the ride felt afterward. I noticed the alignment was off substantially, and I had to keep the wheel held at a constant NASCAR turn to head straight. I followed up with them the next business day and asked if this was expected. They explained alignment issues could arise after suspension work, and that I would need to get it aligned. I persisted in my concern that it was off substantially, and requested they double-check before I had to pay for an alignment elsewhere. They agreed.
I dropped the van off and waited for the call. Later that same day, they confirmed the suspension work was sound but had proactively taken the van to a nearby alignment shop to address the issue. I was overjoyed—they could have dismissed my concerns, but instead, they went above and beyond. On top of that, they applied the new customer discount, even though it could have been considered too late. I picked up the van and steered with a wheel pointing the same direction as my tires.
Overall I had an amazing experience of a friendly, competent, and ethical mechanic who has me as a customer for life. They handled not only the work with care, but went over and above with my customer experience. I’ve already referred them to several friends who were in need of work, as they deserve all the business they can...
Read moreIn my opinion they are the worst auto repair around!!! I am new to the state and to Seattle, so I took a chance on trying to find someone to repair my truck. I drove my truck to Adlerwood Auto. They called my and said that I had cylinder issues. They sent me a diagnostic with the issues. They gave me the option to either fix the vehicle or replace the engine. I told them let me look in to and I will get back with them. I called back the following day and said let just go ahead and fix the vehicle. I was then informed that they would no longer repair the engine and they would only replace! I said wait wait that’s not what was said yesterday. He said well it’s our decision now. They then went back and rewrote the diagnostic and completely changed all the wording. So I figured since they were now saying that my vehicle is dead on arrival that I would try and make a claim thru my insurance. I had my insurance company call on my behalf and they told him I would have to call up there and give permission for him to have my information. So I call and speak to the gentleman at the counter and he says I’ve made a note on your account. I said thank you and let my insurance agent know. I get a call the following day from my insurance that I now have to email permission. So I called and spoke with the lady at the counter who was super rude, bossy, and demanding. She kept trying to tell me to stop yelling at her when I was not yelling and kept telling me she was going to hang up on me instead of just listening to me. She took no responsibility for the man who answered the phone and said he isn’t Human Resources so he wouldn’t know. I told her I would wait on the phone for her to send me the text message stating their email address. That made her super frustrated but I told her I want the taken care of now. So she put me on hold for a good amount of time before the text came thru. She proceeded to tell me that my vehicle isn’t on their lot so I’m not technically their client currently. I said wow but I was your customer and I would definitely not be anymore and I would let others know to be aware that this company operated. JUST KNOW YOU HAVE ALL...
Read moreIf I could give them 10 stars I would. My previous mechanic and shop changed hands and the service went downhill. That was years ago and as a single mother I have always dreaded taking my car in since and not feeling like a victim as I know nothing about cars. I noticed Alderwood Auto Repair when I was at the adjacent gas station and thought next time I needed repair I would try them out purely due to convenient location. I had to take my car in this week. Their customer service on the phone as well as in person is stellar. I spoke to Bill on the phone and he was very patient and helpful in regards to what to expect with the diagnostic service. I dropped my car off that evening and by the next day they sent me the diagnostic report which was so detailed, easy to read and included pictures. This is so incredibly helpful to someone who does not speak automotive. I did not feel like I was being over charged, I did not feel at any point that they were trying to inflate costs. When I got some bad news about my car it seemed they cared and provided me with the best advice possible on what to do moving forward. I called the next day to let them know I was going to come pick up the car and had the pleasure of speaking to Karly. She was so friendly and personable. Even though it had been a stressful week she was so understanding and kind. One the website their mission is building a culture of trust and I experienced this 100%. It is rare for businesses to display the ethics they have to a first time customer. I will never forget it. You have earned a customer for life. I have already recommended them...
