Deli associates need some more training or need to apply their training in the workplace. Because 2/12 morning at 8:45am an employee came from somewhere in the store and went to grabbing gloves without even washing his hands. I asked him did he mind washing his hands and he said sure. After washing his hands and using the lever with his bare hands to release the paper towels he then dried his hands. There should be an automatic paper towel dispenser. He’s recontaminating his hands by touching the lever. Mind you that was the quickest handwashing I’ve ever seen in my life, but I was relieved when he grabbed new gloves afterwards. Anyhow, the LOL American cheese I wanted wasn’t behind the case so he had to walk around and get it from the front of the case. He lifted the glass up and grabbed it and walked back there without even changing his gloves. He started peeling the packaging off and touching each slice I was disgusted, that’s why I never get food from the deli. I shouldn’t have to remind a grown man about safe food handling. I’ve been in food services my whole life and now I’m into the healthcare field so I naturally notice everything. I notice when employees touch their hair, ear, nose, or hat. Even when they cough without covering their mouths. Employees working around food need to be very cognizant of what they’re doing with their hands and germs overall for proper safe food handling and stop being lazy and careless. Sorry folks, I won't be back. What I thought would be a quick stop for a couple items turned out to be a LONG wander. Yes, I only wanted nail polish and remover, vitamins, onions and a bottle of wine. I certainly needed that wine when I finally got home. I found the layout of this huge place could be improved tremendously. Selection of items seemed strange with very limited amounts of certain items. Granted, I hate shopping to begin with but it shouldn't be this difficult. Onions? I looked and looked in produce. Maybe I missed something but all I found was big bags of multi colored onions, and bags of tiny yellow and white ones. I finally saw 2 lb. bags of organic onions. They were both a smaller quantity and higher price than I wanted, but I grabbed them and hightailed it to the checkout. I went to one of two available "human" checkers only to find those onions would not ring up. Neither the UPC code nor hand entered numbers would work. Call in another person who tried again. Same thing. Then she went back to look but she wasn't getting back... when she finally did, the checker still had to make a phone call to get a price. No discredit to the workers, they really tried.
