I made an online purchase for a Henry 45-70 lever action rifle which I'd wait all week to pick up and was very excited about. My family and I had never been to Sportsman before so we spent some time browsing the store to see what all they offered. We had to drive 2 hours to this location just for the pick up since the other locations didn't have the model in stock that I wanted. Our first experience at Sportsman was not a good one at all and I was very disappointed. Myself and my family were discriminated on multiple accounts in just this one interaction with your one employee. I've never been treated like this when purchasing my other firearms when my husband has been with me. I was questioned during this whole interaction about my capability to handle the gun I purchased and if it was for me and not my husband. It is for me and I wanted what I ordered! My husband took our daughter to somewhere in the store while I was picking up my purchase as she is not old enough to understand guns yet and how they work as well as she asks a lot of questions and then overshares information with other people accidentally and we're just private people and don't like to share or show off what we own unless it's on our terms. We want to ensure she is properly educated about gun safety when we feel she is ready. The employee kept asking me if the rifle was for myself and it is. I am a smaller framed woman as well as I'm currently pregnant (which is temporary and obviously I can't physically go practicing until after I have the baby). He proceeded to berate me with questions and tried to tell me I should really start with a smaller caliber rifle which is not what I wanted, I've used the smaller caliber rifles and don't like them. He kept saying about how the caliber size was essentially too big for someone of my size to handle and he could not sell me the gun. This was not for him to decide my capability to handle the gun. I already paid for it and he refused to give me my rifle that I'd been hunting for for weeks now because inventory is low and I'm kind of picky about what I want. He violated my rights in telling me I could not leave with my rifle that I already paid for based on his assumptions. Then he had the audacity to mark in the refund notes 'customer changed mind', no I most certainly did not! He told me he couldn't sell it to me. This experience was belittling and embarrassing as there were many other customers and families around me making their purchase and they weren't being treated like that at all and could overhear the entire interaction. I have fired many various caliber guns at ranges and expos, I own 2 other fire ams currently and I take lessons for any new guns to ensure I'm being safe and using them properly as well as maintaining them properly. I have sent an email request for a corporate manager to call me back as suggested per your other location's employee who suggested I call corporate to report this. We drove to that location and I walked out with the rifle I wanted even though it ended up being a higher priced model. I will never visit the Tucson...
Read moreOrdered a new Glock and paid for it online. I only had to go into the store to fill out the ATF paperwork, pick it up and then leave. Too easy, right? Wrong. Went on a weekday just before 5pm. The place was dead. I noted four employees behind the gun counter wearing green vests and at least two more who didn't have the vests, but they were all huddled around one guy's phone laughing at something. There were three customers for the six employees: myself, a guy to my right already filling out his ATF form and another guy to my left looking at semi-auto handguns in a glass case. After ten minutes, he looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Unfortunately, I couldn't do the same. Eventually one of the six managed to break away from the gaggle and return to the guy filing out the ATF form. He asked for his driver's license and concealed carry license, if he had one. He took the cards, placed them on the counter about four inches from my right hand and then walked away. That's when I noticed the other two driver's licenses and concealed carry cards nearby. I could easily read the names, addresses, license numbers, DOBs...everything on all the cards. Good thing I am not an ID thief; a single snap of a cell phone camera and I could have had some new credit cards. So, after about twenty minutes of waiting one of the clerks noticed me, strolled over and asked, "Ya, you need something?" I gave him my name and order number. He disappeared into the back, came back with the Glock, handed me a tablet device, told me to "fill it out" and then walked back to the gaggle again. Once I was finished with that, he sauntered back, told me someone would check it all out and then he was gone. Eventually a manager appeared, looked over the my answers, said I was good to go, and then began looking for the gun. I pointed out that his employee left it behind the counter. He then asked if I had even been allowed to inspect it - I hadn't. He let me verify it and told me I had to "check out" at the register at the end of gun case. As I had paid already online I was given a gift card that was processed by the clerk who "helped" me earlier. While scanning the card he never looked at me, said thanks for the business, screw off...nothing. It's like I wasn't even there. When done, he held the bag out with one hand while he turned around and spoke to a couple of his colleagues. I guess he isn't a fan of Glocks. I'll never go back. I thought about complaining to the manager, but he was part of the gaggle. It would have been like inviting the fox to investigate the murders in the chicken coop. The customer service was non-existent and the security with people's identification was just dangerous and irresponsible, but I did get a good gun at a...
Read moreI've never left a bad review before or any review for that matter but I am today. I bought a big safe from Sportsmans. They told me all they had was the floor model. Everything seemed to work so I bought it at full price...never pay full price for anything floor model, no matter how nice it is. Sportsmans has a credit card that will take 15% off if you apply for it, get approved, and use it the same day. I got approved but that 15% turns out to only be $50 when you buy something over $350. Whatever, I'll still get the safe because it's what I'm looking for. I pull around back and wait. They can't find the box it came in. What happened to it? Doesn't matter because no one knows. While they're looking for a cardboard box to cover the safe so it doesn't get damaged, I ask about the user manual and back up key. Guess what, they don't know where that's at either. Manager is telling me that it might not come with them. Maybe they looked for it, I don't know but they did disappear for a bit so maybe that was a good sign. Esteban was good on his part, said he would find it for me and get back to me ASAP. I get a call the next morning, they found the key and manual. I pick them up and come back to the house. I start putting stuff in the safe and I can't find two of the shelf clips. I started reorganizing the shelfs and I find the missing two clips wedging the top shelf into the supporting ones. I take them off and line everything back up and the shelf doesn't want to straighten out. The rear end of the shelf is raised up like it doesn't fit. I lift up on the shelf to separate it from the center partition and see that the groove in the center of the top shelf doesn't match up with the tongue on the center partition. Turns out you have to turn either the partition or the shelf around 180 degrees to get the grooves to match up but when you do that, the uncarpeted edge is exposed on one piece or the other. Sure, maybe it's a manufacturers defect but I wanted to know what the store would do about that because they sell it and I did pay full price for this whole situation. Called the store up and Chris' attitude pretty much said you bought it, you deal with it. He said he could give me the manufacturer's number so I can call them myself or bring it back for a refund. Yeah, let me just throw it back in the car and drop it off. I'm sure my friends and family won't mind if I take up the rest of their weekend so I can return this thing and spend $2500 on a liberty for potentially the same situation. But then if it's up to me to figure this stuff out I might as well cut out the middle man. It's not like shopping local supports local jobs or anything like that. The last thing we need is a thriving local economy at a time like this. Next time I'll just shop...
