Let’s start with the sandwich I ordered: the turkey and ham sandwich. It had a good amount of lettuce, meat, and cheese; however, the bread was very dry, and the lack of mustard and mayo was a problem. The meat and cheese were pretty much tasteless. It was like store-brand deli meat and cheese from the grocery store. I had to add a good amount of mayo and mustard just to cope with eating it. It was worth maybe $4.50, but it was $10.50 for just a sandwich. I didn’t order any sides or drinks because they were overpriced as well. I’ll move on to the service. The lady that took my order was nice with a positive attitude. The guy in the back making the food had a negative attitude, as if he didn’t want to be there. The atmosphere is very plain and not very welcoming. If you’re looking for good food at a reasonable price, I would definitely look elsewhere, like a grocery store that makes good sandwiches. I will not be returning to this restaurant. I hope this constructive feedback helps anyone thinking about going...
Read moreInvited by a friend to try out this restaurant. The gent and the counter was cool. Helped us through the menu when we had questions. I ordered the pastrami, spicy. The French roll came out LOADED with pastrami. It was melting the provalone beneath it. I, personally wouldn't like extra spicy mustard as I felt it didn't have enough initially, but that's just my own taste. The gent at the counter checked on us a few times and was a very nice young man. As they began to close the shop they encouraged us to take our time and enjoy our meal and they'd let us out when we were finished. Glad they didn't rush us. They were very nice about it. My friends had the two dog combo and another pastrami, but not spicy. We all agreed it was great. I will say, I wish the French roll was a little bit softer, but that's a bit nit picky, IMO. Give this place a try. I know I'll be back when I'm in the area again. Thanks for the...
Read moreIt's new, and maybe it's going to need time to improve, but my wife and I were not impressed. We both ordered the Italian beefs, she wanted hers dry. I love mine dunked ( they call it baptized). Both came out the same. The beef was lacking in seasoning. Plus, roasted green peppers do not belong on an Italian beef. The smokeyness was overpowering. Great for Mexican cuisine, maybe it's their touch, but living in Chicago my entire life, this was not what we expected. Cleanliness was top-notch. The person taking the order was there but not very personable. I personality knew the original owner of Luke's from Arlington Hts, Illinois. We miss his true Italian flare. You only get one first impression. This is why I'm only giving it 3 stars. Maybe in a few weeks, we'll give it a second chance... ...
