Complete waste of money for us. My wife and I are on our honeymoon, and wanted to check it out while staying at the Westin. We waited in line to be seated. After being seated in the scorching sun, we decided to get up and go find some shade. Shortly after cooling off, we sat back down to be greeted by our server who was tremendous. He was running up and down making sure everyone was taken care of. Sadly we were put in a bad spot and could barely see the stage. The table behind us left as they couldn’t see anything and wasn’t happy with the food. He brought us drinks (Mai Tai’s) and these were the only mixed drinks that actually had a correct mixture of liquor and mix the whole trip. Especially paying 10+ a drink. Stick with beer. They can’t water it down. (Watched bartenders let ice melt at some bars at the hotel to make up empty space in the cups.) The food was awful, flavorless, cheap quality, frozen prior to serving. If there wasn’t a “bbq” sauce on it, it would be dryer than the Sahara. Food was cold when served, and tasted like it was cooked with hotdog water. The desert and drinks seemed to be up to par, but the food was not even close. My wife was very upset. First Luau and it was the worst experience. We paid just about more in photos than the experience itself. The speaker of the event shouted out birthdays, honeymoons, anniversary’s etc and after letting the concierge know about our honeymoon, our names were never called. Embarrassing on my end as this time was special and it was our first time. Hearing and seeing others being represented while we sat in shame was awful. We left starving, and upset that we wasted money and time on this show.

I will definitely recommend checking out other options/shows as this didn’t meet our expectations and wasn’t worth the cost. I don’t even want to ask for a refund, although at this point I regret...

I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone for a few reasons.

The forecast mentioned rain. They didn’t cancel the show. Since husband and I bought tickets at the last minute (paid maybe $350 for 2 tickets at concierge), we got seated at table 13, which was outside. Normally not a big deal but we got rained on a bunch. They gave us ponchos, but the rain was on our plates, table, food, drinks, everything. Ladies, forget about your hair or nice shoes. Forget that you dressed up all cute for the Lu’au.

The food. How did they serve us this for almost $200/person for “Ohana seating?” They were plated and tasted like they came from a random food truck. This was the worst part of the event (even worse than getting rained on). The spam fried rice was mushy. How do you mess up fried rice?? I have paid much less for much better food. Extremely disappointed.

When starting the show, the MC started a prayer. What? We don’t even pray in schools… somehow we are praying at a Lu’au now? There’s a place and time, but this was almost comical. Definitely not okay.

The only nice part was our waitress, Lorraine, who tried her best to accommodate us with the rain. She kept bringing drinks and was very attentive. We gave her a nice tip because it’s not her fault everything else about the Lu’au sucked.

We went to Old Lahaina Lu’au in 2018, and it was fantastic. Going again in a couple days, not sure how it’s changed for COVID, but I can’t imagine it would be any worse than this. I’d recommend that over this one, it’s even cheaper.

Edit: We went to Old Lahaina Lu’au a few days later, and it was fantastic as usual. Delicious drinks, great music, great dancers, and best of all… GREAT FOOD! The food was plentiful and delicious. Service was unbeatable, and you get to take banana bread home. Don’t go to Wailele Lu’au - save your money and book Old...

This was my first luau experience and it did not reach my expectation. I was really excited for this event but was let down by how dinner was coordinated. First off, I have never felt more like second class citizen until now. There were two lines…one for the premium package and one for the regular people who paid a little less( mind you, we paid about $175 per person for regular which was still pretty expensive, but wanted the experience nonetheless). The regular people had to wait in a separate line until all of the premium package people were seated and got their flower leis. The regular people got seashells necklaces. The premium people also got to eat first as well. I’ve never felt so poor standing in line at the buffet section waiting for the premium people to get their food first. This Luau really went out of their way to separate people. It was suppose to be a fun and good experience but I felt it was very divided.

Secondly, the food sucked. I expected to see a pig roast but the pork was already shredded at the buffet section. There was nothing great about the food selections. I didn’t even want to go for seconds and even if I wanted to, I couldn’t because they took the food away so quick!

The only thing that I enjoyed was the performance and the service provided by the servers. Our server was very attentive and quick.

Overall, I had a bad experience because of the division. At least have have two people check in the two separate groups at the same time instead of making the other group wait. This Luau also did not feel authentic because of the banquet style set up. I wanted the full experience but was...

One of my favorite luaus, and I’ve been to 6 over the years. (There are a couple I like more but on Oahu, not Maui) The venue is very easy to access, especially if you’re already staying in the Ka’anipalli area of Maui. It’s not cheap at about $200 pp for the higher level, but I recommend it because the seats are much better. Check in at the Westin, enter the venue through the arcade near the waterfall, and get laid upon entry to the show area with a drink in each hand! The main meal food is better than average but it’s all the basic items you expect. Salads, chicken, fish, veggies, beef, kaluha pork, poi, etc. They had three or four desserts. My Ovid and vids show most of the stuff. Their drinks are storing and include in the package. At least our package. And they’re decently potent. Not much activity before the meal and show starts. Mainly vendors selling their wares, and a photographer. The photos were 20 bucks for one hard copy, or 60 bucks for the set which includes the digital ones that they email you later. They do a very nice job and my opinion is get it for the memory. The host is funny and engaging. The dancers were talented and a couple were quite striking. I cracked up cuz one kinda looked like The Rock to me. Haha. They do all the dances as they teach you the history of the South Pacific and Hawaii. Kids (and a few adults) go on stage to learn a dance. And the fire dancing portion is definitely the best I’ve seen. It’s Hawai’i. Have fun and enjoy!

Not a great experience if I’m completely honest, the food was good (not great) the fire dancers were very good at their jobs, but the whole organization of the event was awful. It started at 5:30 on paper, but nothing happened till at least 6:30, so if you’re running late don’t worry. The actual show only lasts maybe an hour, The drinks were all included, but were all well garbage. There are multiple vendors set up to sell you stuff that you could buy in any surf shop on the island, but for triple the price (The hotel makes a large cut) Our server was inattentive and only came by a couple of times during the whole dinner. We paid for the “Premium” experience, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that, there was 0 advantage to it, we all got the same lays and there was no priority seating. We had valeted our car to save time, when we finished and went to the valet kiosk to get the car, they referred us back inside to the front desk to pay, we then had to wait in line for the one clerk who was checking guests in to get around to us. Online it says Valet parking is $42, the Valet said it was $50 and then the front desk agent said it was $52.80. The Westin really needs to get its act together, for 2 people we paid $600 including the valet for a “Premium” Luau experience, I left frustrated with the lack of organization, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere! I feel legitimately robbed.
