Kihei Akahi D-211 — Attraction in Maui

This was a great place to stay in our favorite part of the island, Kihei/Wailea area. Since it was just my husband and I without our 4 kids this time, we were looking for something smaller and this was perfect! The unit was newly updated with new cabinets, granite countertops and tile floor. The grounds were well-kept and it was within walking distance to stores, restaurants and a trail and beaches we ran or walked on daily. We had a view of the upper pool and could see the ocean from the lanai. The man in the office was very helpful at check in and everyone was very friendly. They had snorkel gear, beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels to use. Sometimes the snorkel gear and beach chairs at the condos we've stayed at have been so used that we have to go rent gear. Not this time. It was all in great shape! Another great asset was the washer and dryer. We headed to the Island of Kauai for the second half of our stay and washed a few things before we left. We sure missed that when we stayed in Kauai at a condo that didn't have it! If you do any hiking into waterfalls, etc. having a washer and dryer is a great thing! The king-size bed was comfortable and the unit was nice and cool with just the fans and opening it to get a breeze through the unit. It was quiet (we couldn't hear our neighbors) which is not always the case. The kitchen was well-furnished too so we prepared a lot of our own meals. They have barbeques by the pool that we did not use but saw many families using. The selection of Hawaiian dvds and books (Maui Revealed is a must have) were a nice addition. We've never come in January before but highly recommend it. The whale-watching was remarkable and the binoculars the condo had made it so fun to watch from the beach. We went on a snorkeling/whale-watching trip with the Pacific Whale Foundation and it was one of the highlights of the trip. They were so knowledgeable of the whales behavior and the history of whales (hunting to where there were very few whales and their comeback and protection, etc.) We saw at least 20 or more whale on the trip not to mention the 20 or more we saw from the beaches where we relaxed and snorkeled. The only downfall is that our kids were at home and didn't get to see and learn about them too! We stayed in this condo for 3 nights . Upon our arrival at 11 am we expected to check in and probably get our place .the office told us we can't check in till 4 pm because there were people who just checked out and still has to clean the place ,then we asked if we can leave our luggage in the office area since it will be 5 hours ,they didn't allow us to do so ,we didn't have a car rental and we decided that would be the only solution to get a car till we can get our place so we got a rental car just to keep our luggage in Five hours later we got to the assigned place to find a v dirty bed has remnant of human hair and eye liner ,that was after a struggle with opening the door using a very old outdated nonfunctional keybox. We called the service and they sent us a housekeeping manager who admited and assured us that this place was cleaned last night and no one entered it after,we discovered that the front desk lied to us by telling us the place still accupied by guests when we first got in .so the conclusion was they lied to us ,they didn't accomadate us properly after a long flight. They were very dishonest and not accomodating. The place itself needs a lot of updates ,has a lot of bugs everywhere and old furniture ,I gave it 2 stars only because of nice location easy access to the public beach and to the city center and the nice housekeeping manager who got us new blanket and linens to replace the...

We rented C611 from Bill! Fantastic owner who really cares about his guests! Unit had spectacular views from living room and lanai. Unit definitely had that comfortable Hawaiian feel with some Hawaiian decor but nice modern kitchen with almost every gadget you could think of. Gas range, full sized fridge, microwave & dishwasher were all standard. The bedroom had a king sized bed and a closet full of beach amenities including chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and pool noodles. It also came with large beach towels to use during our stay. We had a/c in living room, two ceiling fans and a floor bedroom fan to move cooler air into the bedroom for sleeping at night. More than adequate- downright comfortable. We went to the beach in the morning and the pool in the afternoon. The pool had a shady covered area where I hung out while my wife would find a lounge chair in the sun! So comfortable!! This complex has a few reasonable rules to ensure the enjoyment of everyone - no glass anywhere near the pool, no jumping into the pool (so no one gets splashed), quiet hours after 10 pm.
