UPDATE: The owner called and tried his absolute best to make it right, and apologized profusely, and offered everything he could for free services which is of course very respectable. There is clearly an employee issue that needs to be dealt with, which is not the owner’s fault. I think there was quite a bit of miscommunication that was EXTREMELY poorly handled by the employee, but I would still give them my business after the attempts of reconciliation. Very nice owner!! But for context, here’s what happened previously:
There is an infinite amount of negative stars I would give this service if I was capable. My family called an hour and 50 minutes after the order was placed because our delivery was supposed to arrive in 45 minutes. A family member called customer service, and we were told our delivery was cancelled because the restaurant was closed (with no call to let us know what had happened), and we were hung up on. We called the restaurant, who were OPEN, and was told to call this service back. Calling again, we were told our area was out of the delivery range and hung up on again. After maybe 10 calls, (we were hung up on each time), I called and got the gentleman to admit he Lied and completely made up that the restaurant was closed. Then, of course, he hung up on us again. To the owner of this business: The Indian gentleman who was working around 6:45 on March 6th should be fired IMMEDIATELY. There was a BLATANT apathy toward customer service and an amount of disrespect, the likes of which...
Read moreHopper Maui is a knock off UBER EATS except they include all sorts of fees into the price. Administrative fee, driver fee, and then TIP. So if there is already a mandatory delivery fee where is that going if I am also asked to leave a tip? The delivery fee is $6 bucks already.
Some of the restaurants have delivery of their own. The Pizza Places especially and its a lot cheaper to call the pizza place, place an order, and have it delivered and put your tip directly with the driver from the pizza place. You also ensure that the place you're ordering from is getting your business. Since they have their own delivery people. You're not giving them business if you use Hopper for delivery. Hopper is taking some of the money, and it doesn't make sense hopper is asking for a delivery fee, and a tip unless they aren't giving some of that money to the drivers.
Don't use this service. Call the restaurants directly or pay a bunch of fees for...
Read moreWe've been using Hopper pretty much exclusively since we moved here a few months ago. We checked the prices against the restaurant's sites and it's the same most of the time. If it's more, it's something that the restaurant establishes (from what I understand because I asked) to basically get a tip that they would usually get if someone showed up directly. I've compared the prices, delivery, and whatever extra charges everyone may charge, and Hopper is cheaper across the board. I asked a driver about tips and she said they get 100% of the tips, which is great! This company is 100% local and it shows with how the drivers greet you with Aloha, and they always make sure that I get my food instead of just leaving it on the doorstep and assuming I see a text or email like the other guys do. It's a shame that people from competing companies are leaving 1 star reviews to bash a local company....
