This mall kind of blows. There isnt anywhere to get your "on the go fast good" except for dairy queen and I think one other location. They've gotten rid of a ton of stores in this mall and the shops in there. The only clothing store I can actually remember is the surfing clothing store which isnt much of a good store in itself. Cheap kids toys can be purchased at the toy factory there if you're willing to spend money on overpriced toys that are cheap and will most likely break. And either than that, most of the mall is just either longs drugs if you need any sort of over the counter medication, maybe a quick card game to pick up "might even have better toys than the maui toy works in my opinion" or if you might need headphones or anything of the sort. Overall it's really just bland as it has become this way over the years of this mall being in Lahaina, and a lot of the shops disappearing due to leases and such. But the owners actually do not replace any of the stores as an example, I've seen a gamestop in this mall (I dont like gamestop but it's the only game store I can buy Nintendo Switch games at, due to.the inability to access the internet with my switch on hotel wifi thanks nintendo.) And it got replaced by one store, then after that I don't think.a store has existed there since. Plus I've gotten food poisoning from the dairy queen there both times I ate there. I dont reccomend this mall, but if you're looking to.get groceries or a quick toy/ card game then consider this mall...
Read more4 stars for potential and the cool free museum.
Currently (June 2023), the mall is in the process of installing a food court, where they are going to have a "food truck" concept indoors. Sounds really exciting, and will definitely bring more foot traffic.
The mall itself has a very cool industrial-meets-modern architectural vibe. You see the historic bones of the original cannery, but also see the additions of modern elements, like glass windows on the ceiling and lots of natural light.
There are currently many tourist-driven retail venues inside the mall space. They are designed for tourists to get souvenirs. I bought a couple of affordable tchotckes, like a Christmas ornament from Crazy Shirts.
The main star of the mall (at this moment) is the free museum. I spent quite a bit of time in there soaking in the history and admiring the mini-exhibits, artifacts, and photographs. I love history and imagining the life of previous generations, especially since my kids' great-great grandparents worked the plantations on Maui and have history here. This small museum packed a punch, and I felt pulled into the past century...
