Wailea Nail & Spa — Attraction in Maui

I booked a classic manicure + gel polish with Sue well in advance. When I arrived, I was seen by a very nice young man, but NOT Sue. Wrong nail tech. At first I thought the young man was just doing the gel polish removal part of my nails but he ended up doing the entire thing. The woman who helped me check in (Sabrina) asked if I was getting my toes done too, and when I said no, she said “well you booked a pedicure too but that’s okay” but I did not. I think they maybe confused my appointment with someone else even though I said my name when I got there. Anyway, I did not get a classic manicure + gel, I got a gel manicure which I guess has less services. In my booking notes I explained that I just got engaged and my nails would be in a lot of photos for a photoshoot, so this manicure was important to me. Because of this, I booked the classic manicure + gel polish thinking they would pay more attention to my cuticles with this service combo. As the photos show, there is still a LOT of dead skin around my nails. No cuticle oil or cuticle remover was applied at any point in the appointment. I also chose a color from their gel polish book, which did not look sheer in the book, and after three coats (I had to ask for the third one) it’s very sheer. This can be seen in the photos, too. Usually if I pick a sheer polish, the tech will let me know its sheer and suggest a color underneath which would have been great in this situation. The color is pretty but I would like to not be able to see through it. Ultimately I was charged for a gel manicure + builder gel which I did not ask for and was NOT told it would be an additional $10. The complimentary Vietnamese coffee was wonderful and the young man that did my nails was very pleasant but I do wish I had received the tech and services that I booked. I spent a very long time reading many reviews to ultimately choose Sue as my tech, so not receiving her was disappointing. Went for a manicure on 8/15. They were able to accommodate a schedule change upon calling, and accommodated my husband and me two hours earlier than originally planned. The salon was clean and quiet, which was great. Atmosphere was friendly and concentrated work space. The tools looked packaged like they came out of an autoclave, which is always a good sign.

My nail artist misunderstood that I wanted a regular manicure and scuffed up my nails more than necessary, but the general cleaning of cuticles, shaping etc was well done. Nail polish application looked good. It is now five days after the appointment and my nails are chipping pretty hard. I was hoping for seven solid days, but I will say I did travel with these nails and I wash my hands probably 12-14 times a day + lotion every time so they get heavy cleaning and product use.

My husband had the Maui pedicure and to this day his feet look the best they ever have. It was a 1.5 hour session, but he said he enjoyed it. He was worried about the callus removal as he is a runner and had a race a few days later, worrying the lost callus would cause him blisters, but all is well and looks good.

It’s not cheap, but I think the classic manicure price was adequate. The pedicure but a bit high, especially given no polish, but oh well. Would...

Sabrina was my nail tech as Kim is no longer at the salon.

Sabrina is fantastic! Friendly and personable. I had a great time talking story with her and she did an excellent job on my nails.

I highly recommend Sabrina and Wailea Nails.

Super stoked to have a new nail salon in the neighborhood.

My partner and I popped in for mani pedis and really enjoyed our experience.

The staff was welcoming and friendly. We were offered drinks- I went with a Thai iced tea (my fave) to enjoy while I got my nails done.

It was my first time getting gel extensions on my hands and I’m so happy with the service Kim provided.

All of the equipment is new and everything is very clean. I watched staff wipe down the spa chairs between guests as well (not just the bowls, the whole chair).

We’ll definitely be back.

Highly recommend if you’re visiting or live in the area.
