I can only imagine what utter shock & dismay a person from a very poor third world country would think if they were ever just dropped smack dead center in the very robust & colorful produce section of this ridiculously designed super store. To call it a supermarket just does not do this place justice. It is more an experience with it's strategically placed lighting, staging, plants & overall attention to detail creating a three dimensional shopping experience. I think it's safe to say that particular person would have thought that they had gone to heaven. When I enter this superstore I realize how blessed we are here in the Boston area, while in many parts of this plane/world there are souls just like us starving to death. Count your blessings & be grateful, we the bountiful can do so much better. Not one should ever die or perish for lack of food, the food that is wastefully thrown away daily in this country alone could easily fill evey hungry belly if a truly concerted organized effort was implemented. The sad fact is that certain factions in this world falsely like to perpetuate that there are simply to many people in this realm & that is a blant Lie & they know it. The depopulation agenda is very prevalent amongst the elite socalled ruling class, the reality is that the real comptrollers of our world are never seen or known & that's exactly how they like it & explains how they've never had to relinquish their power, cloaked in compounds nestled away in places like the Swiss Alps were one can drink uncontaminated water from flowing streams & breathe clean fresh air. If you are under the spell believing that poisonous diabolical chemtrailling isn't going on daily in every populated area than you're simply in a state of severe cognitive dissonance ! It is said that entire worlds population of upwards of 7.8 Billion could fit shoulder to shoulder in the tiny state of Rhode Island šļø drive anywhere west of the Mississippi in desolate places like Montana or the flatlands of Nevada & try for one second & tell anyone that there isn't enough room, this just a tiny example being in the States nevermind the rest of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL;DR: Terrible quality produce, constantly out of stock of basic items.
We were excited when we found out they were opening a Wegmans in Medford because we've heard so many great things about other Wegmans stores.
Unfortunately, this one doesn't live up to the reputation. We've been giving them another chance, and another chance for a long time now. But they continue to disappoint us. Today was the last straw. We won't be going back.
First of all, their produce is terrible. I'll use bananas and avocados as examples. Either all the avocados are too ripe and on the verge of rotting, or they're all rock hard and don't ripen for a week. Bananas are the same. If we get there at just the right time, they are fine. But often the entire stock is dark green or already has brown spots. Today, the regular bananas were completely sold out and the organic ones were all dark green. Certain things like onions and potatoes are always fine. But other types of produce (berries, peppers, lemons, etc.) are always hit-or-miss.
The second problem is we can never get everything on our list. Every time probably 20% of the things we need are either sold out or not in an acceptable condition. If we need specific ingredients for a dish, we almost always have to make a 2nd trip to Stop N Shop or Trader Joe's to get the rest of the things we couldn't get at Wegmans.
I don't know what they're doing differently, but we never have these problems at other grocery stores. Whoever does their sourcing seems to have no idea what they're doing.
I will say the service is friendly and super helpful any time I've asked someone for help.
They do have great in-store dining options if you need to pick up a ready-to-eat sub or salad, sushi, etc. to eat there or take home with you.
And their craft beer and wine selection is very impressive for a supermarket.
But these things don't make up for the fact that we can't get the groceries we need when we shop there. That's your #1 job, Wegmans. And you...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePeople clamored for the opening of this store and, in some ways, it is better than other grocery options - layout/sesthetics, price, booze sales. The only faults are with management-level experiences. Despite having adequate staffing levels and being visibly non-facilitative, management often closes all registers down to one after 9 pm. Would not be a problem if there were any self-checkout options. There aren't any. Many quick trips to the store have turned into time-consuming excursions until we noticed and recalled this trend.
An additional observation: Wegmans has an armed Officer protecting patrons and deterring theft. In plain sight of management, this responsibility is undertaken by hovering over a podium near the exit, back turned, chuckling aloud at a full-volume YouTube videos with AirPods (or whatever Apple wireless earbuds are called) in both ears. I have 3 civil service members in my immediate family, and it's worth noting that we've discussed several times the pride of service and humble obligation inherent to earning a Badge.
I actually felt less safe because Wegmans is paying for this 'deterrent'/'protection', If something happened, Wegmans would use this officers detail to mitigate insurance liabilities, forwarding the burden of civil litigation losses / settlements onto the entire Town of Medford, and The Cashier/Register staff are very helpful, engaging and amiable; Wegmans could put any one of them in a Halloween costume and slashed HR/operational expenditures. I mention all of this to supplement the egregious absence of managerial intervention.
Anyone paying a contractor should be sure that contractor does their job. Many professionals do this every single day in their line of work; Wegmans management is that exception. I can't imagine any patron feels more safe and no losses prevented by the...
