Absolutely horrible!!! I was excited to take my family to see the new Mortal Kombat movie and was promptly turned around because my son isn't of age to view this movie because of the rating. My son is 11 and has seen plenty of rated r movies with my accompanying him. So now all of a sudden after a certain time he can't but again I'm with him and well over the age of 17. I've never had this issue before with him being able to watch rated r movies after a certain time at ANY malco theatre before now. The management was piss poor and honestly didn't give a full explanation other than this policy has bn active since '09 and which I proceeded to let her know that was a lie because again my son is 11 born in 2010 and has seen SEVERAL rated r movies at various times pre Covid at other malco theatres in the surrounding area. This is highly unacceptable. Children should be allowed in with their parents at anytime to view any movie. Its not up to the theatre to tell me what my child can and can't watch, that's my job! Let's just say, I'll NEVER BE BACK TO THIS THEATRE. Even with the passes they gave me, I'll be using them somewhere else. This is completely ridiculous and was such an inconvenience. I drove 30 mins into the city to come here and prepaid. After that altercation, the manager gave me the passes but didn't say we couldn't watch the movie, but even in that she walked away and didn't even offer to give me a refund so I assumed it was ok for us to proceed. Not only that, these folks let me buy a mask and then we proceeded to the consessions and purchased everything we wanted, turned around and then they say we couldn't see the movie because my son is a minor. Whoever that manager is, y'all can do better because she wasn't even clear in her delivery of the policies and to add insult to injury there was another parent there with her child speaking on the same thing. Everything could have bn resolved better had she one explained the policy better and offered a refund. She only offered me a pass. So she was gonna give me a pass to come later but not give me a refund! No ma'am! Very unprofessional and poor customer service on her part! I've bn going to malco theatres since I was a kid and have poured plenty of money into this company and I would at least expect the same service and care be extended to our children. This was our first movie trip since Covid. The movies has always bn something my son and I have done together and this completely ruined that experience tonight! Get a new manager that actually has some customer service experience and can be empathic towards they're customers and not just make them out to be liars or like we don't know the services we've gotten for yrs! Very piss poor and we...
Read moreListen up, movie buffs! I have uncovered the holy grail of coolness in the world of Malco cinemas, and its name is Powerhouse Theater in Memphis, Tennessee. This place is so cool, it could make an iceberg in Antarctica feel like a lukewarm bath.
First things first, this theater has more style than a runway show at Paris Fashion Week. From the moment you step inside, you’ll feel like you’ve entered a secret club for movie aficionados. The atmosphere is as hip as a pair of sunglasses worn at night, with sleek decor and mood lighting that makes you want to strike a pose.
Now, let’s talk about the seats. Oh, baby, they are like reclining thrones of cinematic comfort, unless you’re in the Dolby theater, lame. You’ll sink into them like you’re being embraced by the warm, fluffy arms of a movie-loving teddy bear. Say goodbye to stiff necks and sore bottoms—Powerhouse Theater knows how to treat your posterior with the utmost respect.
But wait, it gets cooler! This place is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will make your eyes pop like a superhero with laser vision.
And let’s not forget the concessions. It’s well, meh, the Malco norm you’ve come to know. Nothing to see here, best eat before.
Now, here’s where things get a little bittersweet. As I bask in the glory of Powerhouse Theater, I can’t help but wish that all the other Malco theaters could be this cool. Come on, Malco, step up your game! Let Powerhouse be the shining example of what’s possible!
In conclusion, Powerhouse Theater at Malco Cinemas in Memphis, Tennessee, is the epitome of cool in the Malco world. With its stylish ambiance and luxurious seating, it’s a moviegoer’s dream come true. Let’s hope other Malco theaters take notes and bring the same level of awesomeness to their screens. Until then, I’ll be living the future...
Read moreA little backstory: my mom passed away about a month ago, and she left me her car—an old 1993 Buick. The car had been through a lot, including hitting a deer, so the front is damaged. But it's been a part of my life since I was 5 years old, and we've made so many memories in it. This car and these memories are important to me, and they come into play in this story.
I've been going to Malco theaters since I was 10, and I’ve never wanted to go anywhere else. Even though I moved about three hours away from Memphis, I decided to drive to Malco for my birthday to enjoy a little nostalgia. However, on the way to Memphis, the brakes started squeaking badly, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a staff member—who I assume was security—who was glaring at us. As we parked and walked inside, I realized that this location only accepts card payments, no cash, so we had to leave and go back to fix that. The whole time, the brakes were still squeaking, but I was doing my best to stay positive.
We came back, hoping to catch the new Conjuring movie, but there were no seats available next to each other, so we decided to leave, find a hotel, and return the next day. But as we were leaving, we were yelled at multiple times, and to my shock, the security guard even flicked us off and hit the hood of the car—just for the sound of the brakes (I think that’s why we literally just pulled in and out). At that point, I was overwhelmed, still grieving the loss of my mom, and I started crying.
I’ve never been treated this poorly in my life. The way we were treated was nothing short of hateful, and I don’t think I’ll ever return to this...
