The Blue Monkey — Restaurant in Memphis

By far my worst experience I walked in traveling from Arkansas.First off I found a space to sit at the bar along with my guest and because it was full I went near floor tables close to the door and seated.The waitress at the bar yelling over customers at the bar to my table saying “hey I don’t have any servers so you would have to come to me at the bar to get your drinks and food. Completely blowed me so then told me that I don’t have any servers they all just about left sorry so me taking her word for it I walked when she yelled back over the bar saying my drinks were ready once I returned to were I was seated she than had a man to come tell me we don’t have any servers so you will have to go to the bar and get your drinks and food so I than told him ok she told us already thank you I already placed my order he than goes in the next dining area and have a black male to have to deliver me my food and as I sat in disbelief she than once cleared majority of customers at the bar went outside and smoked a cigarette and left me thinking wow my table was before the exit why now just bring it on your way out so she than returned back in the restaurant once she noticed that I seen a Caucasian lady serving to other customers she asked me are you ok and than asked my guest while they than walked around throughout the store and had a black guy running back and forward I WILL NOT BE RETURNING that completely blown me very disappointed in the behavior and the yelling over the bar and not attempting to find...

I went to shoot pool with a friend upon entry we weren't immediately seated so I got the attention of one of the waitresses and was told to seat myself. Ordered 2 beers and finished watching the Cavs game. Our pool table became available about an hour or so later. When we received the pool balls back there was a big hunk of spit in the middle of it and I touched it and was completely grossed out made me literally vomit. When I spoke with the manager he assured me none of his staff was responsible but they will be investigated after last night and dealt with accordingly. All of us are not hoodlums or thugs and need to be treated with respect I feel completely disrespected and will NEVER patronize BlueMonkey again no matter where the establishment. Worst experience ever really loathe the hypocrisy of today's society and the fact that we still deal with ANY type of discrimination and not just racism. Blue Monkey downtown, a interesting place to visit. Similar to the Blue Monkey on the square. Different group of people who visit. Downtown being not that close to the major attractions, more locals. Visitors are fewer. Is it more a pickup bar? As one of friends told me, any bar can be a pick up bar, depends on what you want to pick up? As we both had bottles of beer in our hands and no single ladies near us at the time, we picked up a bottle of beer and was making progress on emptying it. Beer list is vast. Lots of local brews too. Food good and better than many places like it. Bartenders pleasant and seldom walk past you without a stop and ask, do you need anything? We sat at the bar. What if you are solo? Not very many solo in there. It reminded me of fishing in an overfished pond. There might have been some catches, just I did not see and had the right bait. I am sure there are days of change and times it is different than I seen. Friday night visit this was. Will I go back? On my list for once a month or two. Was not impressed enough for my needs to put it on the list more often. Parking can be difficult and it's dark in many places. If you have a problem in dark areas with little lighting, perhaps steer clear. I did not notice panhandlers that night. I have seen...
