Beware!!! I have been getting extensions done for many years and never experienced such poor service and quality at premium price as I have at Atma. I went in for a consultation with Kaitlin and we had a lengthy conversation around my hair being awfully thin and breakage. She promised me there would be no issues putting in Bellami extension and she actually would be able to place them much better as my current ones were in place. I was desperate to find a hairdresser who can install extensions while minimizing the distress to my hair which is not an easy ask but considering they are charging north of $2K for them I believed I was in good hands. To say she overpromised and under delivered would be an understatement.
My extensions are in and initially I feel happy being done after just having spent 6hours at the salon but immediately noticed that things were off. The next day I wrote her that I felt the hair was super thin and poor quality and she ensured me it was premium hair and would pick up volume after a wash I am still waiting for that volume but it gets worse. Within a few days an extension pulled out at the root. Of course the salon initially tried to blame me that I didn’t “brush properly or used the wrong brush” which was not the case as I purchased the brush recommended by the salon. Kaitlin then goes to say that she added more pieces around the crown of my head despite it being thin so pretty much admitting that she knowingly added more to an already weak area where the extension eventually ripped out.
I consequently reached out to the manager/ owner and to my surprise even though she was briefed around the incident didn’t proactively reach out to me (red flags everywhere). During our conversation she goes on and on explaining how she wants to accommodate me and make things right. I had to go back to the salon to take several out as they were not placed properly, visible and snagged when wearing sunglasses. She ensured me that Shannon the Creative Director would be there to review Kaitlin’s work. I make an appointment with the owner directly once I get there Kaitlin had no idea I was coming, no sight of a creative director and I was left to wait for 20min.
All this is adding to my overall frustration having fallen pray for a glitz and glamour salon with zero talent nor professional curtesy. Obviously upset I started doing my own research on the Bellamin Hair to find out that they have 28 complains with the BBB. When I shared my findings with the owner she a) wasn’t aware of any of it and b) said that the salon was transparent and disclosed who their vendor was so there is no liability. I agree that even though they were transparent the fact that she had no idea yet charges crazy prices just shows again that this place has no integrity. When you pay a premium and go to what initially was positioned as a reputable salon you simply assume that the quality would align with the price charged.
The cherry on top of it all was that a few days after going in to remove some extensions they cancel my blow out and make up appointment with no explanation and in their opinion providing two weeks notice is enough time to find a replacement for the 31st. (I initially wrote this review right after on Yelp and reposting it here as I didn’t realize this was another option to warn people - since my initial review two add’l extensions have ripped out 😢)
Beware of this salon I initially found them via IG and it’s all a smoking mirror from the way they asked clients to pose for their IG pictures to the lack of professionalism and accountability.
Needless to say I will never return nor recommend this...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. I got my color done with Daniele 6/5. To be fair when I left the salon and in the photos he took I thought my hair looked great. The service was not cheap but to get beautiful hair it never is. I tipped him thanked him and went on my way. However the next day when I was looking closer at my hair and lifted up sections, and saw that he had basically put in one stripe highlight and left the rest dark (my natural color) everywhere. I basically paid for like 5 or 6 luminous highlights in my head (pure bleach). He used 30 volume bleach on my hair that has been highlighted for over 15 years. I have never had this done nor do I know any stylist who would do this to previously colored hair. He damaged every highlight he put in. It looked like I had random stripes of shocking bright highlights as he did not use any toner as he said he doesn’t tone. When I let him know he abruptly told me it was perfect and he did a great job. I then called the salon and asked to speak to the owner. She continued to back him up in everything. Ana told me what a great job he had done. I said I did not want to fight with anyone and I didn’t want to discuss it with him as he was rude to me in his message. She offered me to come back and for him to fix it. Why would I go back to someone who ruined my hair!? If it was something simple I gladly would have. I am not going to return to someone who didn’t even acknowledge that anything was wrong after the pictures I had sent which are absolutely shocking. The owner fought me every step of the way when I asked to be refunded as I did not want him to touch my hair again. During this time he sent me “the finger” on Instagram and both himself and the salon blocked me on Instagram when I never even said a word but was trying to handle the situation directly with the owner herself reasonably. I was told today they would refund me $185. I have no idea where this number came from. I paid $600 including tip. For the owner to tell me she stands by this work as well as the stylist, and then went even further to tell me every other stylist in the salon agreed there was no problem ( I have no idea why this was ever even discussed with any other stylist. But I happen to know for a fact this is not true) Anyone (stylist or not) could see this was a lazy and sloppy color application) - is a disgrace for lack of a better word. Ladies be warned! So much for female empowerment Ana? I’ve never felt worse and didn’t even want to leave the house with the job he did. Thankfully someone else was able to fix it for me. I will never return here. Also as they say I have “receipts”. I have photos of how awful it looked and him giving me the finger. So I’m sure in your response you’ll tell everyone how you offered for me to come in and get it fixed and everything else you could and make it out like I was difficult. Sorry. I would NEVER let a stylist who doesn’t even know what volume of bleach to use on hair and damaged it in the process ever touch it again. Look forward to more excuses and you telling me that I’m wrong here. What happened to the customer always being right? First rule of any customer service industry!? To quote you again “Have...
Read moreIt is with a heavy heart I write this review but I am writing it as a long time local, home owner, woman business owner and as a guide to what is good and not on the beach. Also, sadly, I know the other stylists at this salon are terrific from friends of mine. I chose to have John do my hair, mostly because I was in a rush and he was available (I have been 3 times and NEVER again.) On Saturday, after being at the salon 3 weeks ago to get my natural color (light brown) put my back in my hair, I went to see John because he wanted to wait to put in a partial head, oh yes, I said partial head of baby blonde streaks, PARTIAL. Really. Not only did he put toner on my hair TWICE, the second time was left on more than 20 minutes. Oh wait, it gets better, when he "barely" washed my hair and DID NOT PUT ANY CONDITIONER IN IT, he kept telling me oh this is going to be natural, more natural. We sit in the chair next to the one he works in that was literally covered in bleach and a total mess and he begins to try to dry my hair so we can so what it looks like....OH MY GOD! He ruined my hair, see the pictures attached. RUINED MY HAIR. I told him when leaving, I wanted half of this colour and where are the blond streaks on top of my brown hair that I paird 250 USD plus 20% tip for 3 weeks ago? REALLY. So, not wanting to be drama, I paid the bill inclusive of 20% tip total $390 USD !!!!!!!!! For what you see below, I am horried. But wait, it gets better, I texted him that night with the pics you see and he says on text "oh I think that looks good." I told him I need you to fix this, his response "I will only do it this once then I don't want to work with you." Yup. WHO WOULD SIT IN THIS MANS CHAIR AGAIN?! I spent Sunday finding a new salon, got a haircut to cut out some of the damage. I spent 3 hours Monday at a gorgeous Salon on 9th Street Miami Beach called White Space and by the time I went to bed on Monday evening, I had spent over 1K USD on my hair. DO NOT GO TO JOHN AT ATMA. Also, the new salon found horizontal stripes from poorly placed foils...it was really sad to see. ATMA has a good people, I know this, they have one bad seed that needs to be exited stage left. People keep asking me to call to get my money back. I would love that as this is ridiculous. ATMA, see the pics below and let me know if I can get my money back. Happy to have a...
