Unprofessional and poor customer service. My mother went there in April for an eye exam and waited for hours to be seen. She ordered her glasses with the understanding that progressive lens were optional. They had her sign a sheet with the order of single vision, polycarbonate, and anti reflection for $275. When she starts to use her new glasses she feels dizzy. The tech said that she needs to allow some time for adjustment. Time passes and she returns to them because nothing had changed. The tech said that it was because they were not progressive lens. It would’ve been helpful if they had explained why progressive lens are useful but doctor said optional and tech said it was up to us. They charged the difference of $144 to remake them and ADD progressive. She wears her new progressive glasses and starts to notice that lights bother her. We return and they let us know that it no longer has anti reflective because they added the progressive lens and she didn’t let them know that she still wanted the anti reflective. The understanding was that they would add progressive and not remove anything else. Tech said that they can remake them and have to charge another difference for anti reflective but he would call us the next day to let us know what the price will be because they wanted to really help us and work something out with the price. It has been 4 days and still no info. My sister went there too for an eye exam and they had a hard time giving her a copy of her prescription because they had created a new chart when she was already a patient there. Very disorganized and unable to provide any real answers in regards to the confusion with my mom’s glasses. Keep in mind that we have spent $419 for frames and progressive lens only at this point because I will have to assume that even polycarbonate was removed since we didn’t tell them AGAIN that she wanted everything else to stay the same. This has been a mess going on for almost 3 months. We have been respectful with all the workers when we go but their customer service has been disappointing. We will have to place an order to fix the mess and redo my sister’s eye...
Read moreI do not enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I think it's important to share my experience with Home Optical, as I'm not sure what else to do at this point and my attempts to resolve the issue directly with Home Optical have not been successful.
I brought in lenses from a different optometrist to be assembled into a frame I purchased from Home Optical. I was told that only one lab in Puerto Rico could handle it, and that there was a full guarantee on the work.
Unfortunately, about 2.5 months later, one of the lenses randomly cracked right where it connects to the frame. The optometrist where I got the lenses from produced new lenses right away without hesitation or questions asked. They honored the warranty. When I reached out to Home Optical about getting it repaired under the guarantee, I was first met with a lack of response, followed by resistance after nudging them to respond (all of a sudden the warranty was not covering the cost of assembling the frame when the glasses are from a different optometrist - an exclusion I was not informed about when picking up my glasses), followed by implying I mishandled the glasses, followed by a vague "we will work with you" that meant I'd have to pay something out of pocket for the new assembly, when all I wanted was for my warranty to be honored.
I later found out from a spokesperson of the brand of my glasses that the information about the limited lab availability wasn't accurate. There are many labs in the US that can do this type of assembly and that the lab in Puerto Rico apparently stopped distributing my glasses a year ago.
After about 2 weeks going back and forth I sent a final written request for repair, and I haven't received any response.
I'm disappointed with how this has been handled. Between the glasses breaking so soon, Home Optical not standing by their guarantee, the wrong info about the labs, and just ignoring me, I'd say maybe think twice before...
Read moreThey are really nice people. But everything is overpriced and nothing cuts it. I spent a lot of money here ($750) and nothing worked. Not the lenses, not the glasses... a waste of time and money. I will elaborate. The first glasses worked well for long distances but they were useless for short distance. And they hurt my eyes really bad. I still don't know why. I went back and they charge me again for another set. This time they used progressive. I can't use this for my work. I work in the computer all day long, and the progressive glasses have this tunnel effect, you can not focus on a particular line unless you move your head, and they are useless for typing. I told them what my work was, so I guess they just don't know what kind of glasses the clients require. So that didn't work either. Finally I went there to get contact lenses. They didn't do any test, but I think contacts and glasses use different prescriptions. They delivered some test lenses that were not my graduation. I could not see anything, medium distance or far away, I could only read. Now all I have is very expensive glasses I can not use to code. So I just don't use them, but from time to time to drive. If you are only using your glasses a couple of times a week, $750 is overpriced. I remember getting glasses when I was a kid, and it was simple. I just wanted regular glasses that I can use for my daily life. I don't understand how can you spent this much money and go away...
