Enrolling our daughter at this school was the most amazing experience. I feel from the bottom of my heart that she was so lucky to have these people in her life for the year we lived in Miami. Upon enrollment our daughter was 13 months old and she was in the classroom with Ms. Karin and Ms. Helga - these women love their students as if they were their own and it shows. She was sent home with art work, pictures, and daily reports. Lunch was provided everyday which made life easier for me and snacks were also provided although the teachers really appreciate when parents bring in healthy snacks (blueberries/fruit) to add to what they provide. Allison (the director) will work with you as much as she can to make the schedule for care fit your family. We had to move because my husband was relocated for work and she still asks for both of her teachers everyday. After going to school here my little girl knows her colors, most of her shapes, all of the animals and their sounds, and some of the alphabet and she isn't even two! That really speaks to the quality of the care and the teaching at TMJM. The before care run by Ms. Amber and the aftercare run by the teachers of the older grades is also wonderful - we took advantage of both the before care and aftercare to make this school work with our work schedules. Everyone that works here was a blessing in our lives and I cannot recommend this school more highly. Every single person here including the security guard...
Read moreAs a teacher and having had my children attend for summer sessions I can say without a doubt that the school and staff are excellent. Anyone who can say has had a bad experience was the problem. As educations it is imperative for early education teachers to spot any developmental issues in children and ensure that they are placed in the best possible environment to help them thrive. One thing I did notice was that the teachers were well on their "A" game with their lessons and handling not just identifying students with learning and social issues, but with parents as well. Sometimes dealing with parents is harder than actually dealing with the children and I had zero issues or felt bad when dealing with my children's teachers. I love Ms. Amber and Ms. Fany and trust them with my babies as do and did countless other parents.
I am very disappointed to read the one negative comment about the school and teachers, whose job it is to steer our children down the right path for success. If your child is not thriving there then heed what is being told to you by the experienced teachers, quit taking it personal and do what is absolute best for your baby(ies). Most privately run programs would take your money and not at an eye at the children who need more. I respect schools that would rather lose tuition by guiding children to their proper setting.
Again, hands down best school and best...
Read moreIf you're looking for a friendly synagogue community where you'll soon feel at home in Miami, it's here at Temple Menorah. I sat in shul many times during family simchas, and this synagogue has become very special to me. It starts with the Rabbi up front on the bimah. Rabbi Eliot Pearlson is a very warm, friendly, caring, and learned man. He won my admiration in the summer of 2014 during Israel's Gaza War. I looked over on the synagogue wall and saw color photos of all the young soldiers who fell during that war. Rabbi Eliot pointed at them and said, "These photos should be on the wall of every synagogue!" That touched me. Not only did this rabbi care about the temple community sitting down in front of him, but also about our brethren in Israel. He cared about us all.
Even though I live outside Miami, I've asked my brother to forward me Rabbi Eliot's daily newsletters which he sends out to keep his families connected during Covid. The newsletters are called "Today's Positive Thoughts, Good News and Torah Message." Each newsletter contains funny jokes and cartoons to make everyone laugh during this challenging and isolating epidemic, and inspirational messages he's gleaned from the weekly Torah portion. At the bottom of each newsletter, Rabbi Eliot always signs off with "I love you all." You can't help but love him and this very special...
