I like to mention that this review is in the context of having 20 years of restaurant experience. And I don't typically do too many reviews, especially negative ones like these. I there was an option, I would have given them a negative score.
With only one glass of wine, and returning the large pie (see below), we spent $150+ tip for 5 people. Too expensive that even if the below points have not taken place, no value here for a mill of the road Pizza place.
Amongst the worst restaurant experiences ever...don't go there too many other acceptable options. AC they said was not working. Yet the humidity was ok. I think they are saving on electricity and set it up high. Why would they have several internal fans already intalled. While the Pizzas had lots of ingredients, one came the wrong size, and on two out of 4, they forget the pizza sauce!!!!. The pies were undercooked and it was like eating bread with toppings. Also the chicken had warmed-over flavors. The crepes with dulce de leche was great, hard to screw up. The flan is horrible. It kind of wants to be a bread pudding or something else. Forgot...the empanadas were ok. Filling very good but under cooked. I returned the large meat lovers pizza , one of the ones missing the sauce(imagine). No management present to apologize. Waitress was not focused and did not come back on her own to the table a single time. I will recognize that the place was busy and she was the only one fulltime on the floor. My kind hearted wife, give her a full tip...benefit of the doubt thinking..
Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Messi, even thought it is an Argentinian place, don't...
Read moreMy Argentinean friend recommended I try their famous Fugazza pizza. Ordered multiple times since.
For my gringos: while they have more typical pizza toppings like pepperoni, get what they are known for. The Fugazza is basically almost deep dish though slightly fluffier crust (very crispy at the edges like Pequod's only not burnt) topped with cheese, oregano, super crispy fresh onions, and oddly a green olive per slice. This flavor combo works amazingly. The locals seem to eat it with another layer of corn-meal-something-shaped-like-pizza-and-thin and it has NO flavor and I couldn't choke it down, so I'd skip it. A large pie for $30-40 will feed a family of 3-4 - it's very hearty but the flavors are special.
The empanadas are good - I enjoyed the spicy beef.
Their milanese is super tasty - huge portion of fries (we preferred the sweet potato) and the meat is enough for 2 people and we had leftovers for days.
Salad was a good size with hard boiled egg, chicken, bacon - so nothing really healthy here - delivered with no dressing but went nicely with some balsamic at home.
Not a light meal. I went to Buenos Aires and my local friend gave me a slice of his favorite - this was much better (the other ways way too much cheese...like pounds of it) and we did pass the location right in Buenos Aires. A great unique addition...
Read moreI must say first that I ordered delivery so I wouldn't know about service and atmosphere, I left a rating comparable to others reviews I've seen. My favorite pizza is Argentine pizza (so far) but I guess I can't expect to find the same taste here in Miami as I did in Buenos Aires. The mozarella y and the tomato sauce were just sort of plain, no kick, almost tasteless. The crust had a good base and tasted ok but was kind of doughy and not as airy as I like it, makes it dense and heavy. I tried the ham and pepper pizza as well as the fugazza and an onion and cheese empanada. The fugazza was very light on the cheese which itself was sort of tasteless and the onions were too raw for my taste, I like them a little more toasty. The empanada was very tasty and lots of cheese but was way too light on the onions; it felt like a cheese empanada. I was disappointed because I wanted my Colombian wife to try Argentine pizza for so long but I guess we'll have to wait until we travel over there. Overall, it was OK but I had high expectations (maybe too high) and this is not the Argentine pizza I...
